It is said to be 'Buddha with self-nature luminosity.' Such a self-nature luminosity itself, in an impure state, becomes the cause for purification. The extremely pure state that appears in the minds of the past and present is established as the purifying conditions of Bodhi and the three activities. Through these three conditions, the impure essence is thoroughly purified, and in the future, the fruits of the Three Jewels will be attained. This is clearly established in the 'Treatise on the Sublime Continuum of the Great Vehicle.' Therefore, the body of this treatise is taught as the seven Vajra places. In that, in the state of essence, the self-nature luminosity itself is established as essence, cause, result, action, possession, classification, name of the state, the meaning of being universally present in all states, being eternally unchanging, and the absence of differentiated qualities. The meaning of essence is: the self-nature luminosity itself, in the state of extreme purity, has the power to accomplish the thoughts of those to be tamed, and therefore is Dharmakaya; in the impure, pure, and impure states, it has the power to generate wisdom and great compassion, and therefore is lineage; in all states, its own essence, self-nature luminosity, and purity do not change, and therefore is Suchness. These three are the meaning of essence. Having faith in the Dharma of the Great Vehicle, the wisdom of realizing the two selves, meditating on samadhi such as the Space Treasury, and great compassion, these are the meaning of the cause that purifies the essence. By meditating on these four causes, the self-nature luminosity of the mind is separated from the anger of the greedy, the self-grasping of the heretics, the fear of suffering in samsara of the Shravakas, and the obscurations of the Pratyekabuddhas who do not consider the benefit of sentient beings, thus attaining purity and transcending the other shore of self, happiness, and permanence, these are the meanings of the result. When the self-nature luminosity of the mind encounters the conditions of the four wheels, even causing beings destined for evil to develop weariness of samsara and the mind to seek Nirvana, this is the meaning of action. The meaning of possession is twofold: possessing cause and possessing result. The first is: the previous four causes, such as faith in the Dharma itself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, it is the cause of the complete purification of Dharmakaya (chos sku, Dharmakaya); the middle two are the cause of attaining the wisdom of the Buddha; the last is the cause of the great compassion of the Tathagata (de bzhin gshegs pa, Tathagata) entering, therefore, this realm is called 'having cause'. The five superknowledges (mngon par shes pa lnga) of knowing the extent of the Buddha's realm (ji snyed pa mkhyen pa) and the exhaustions of outflows (zag pa zad pa) of knowing the suchness (ji lta ba mkhyen pa) are called 'having result', because this is the quality of the state of complete purification of the realm. Dividing the suchness (de bzhin nyid) of ordinary beings (so so skye bo), noble ones ('phags pa), and Tathagatas (de bzhin gshegs pa) into three is the meaning of entering. Naming these three as sentient beings (sems can), Bodhisattvas (byang chub sems dpa'), and Buddhas (sangs rgyas) is the meaning of state. The self-nature luminosity (rang bzhin 'od gsal) following these three states is the meaning of pervasiveness. The self-nature luminosity, in the impure state, does not change its self-nature due to the three all-afflictive emotions (kun nas nyon mongs pa gsum); in the pure and impure states, it does not change due to inconceivable death and rebirth, etc.; in the completely pure state, it does not change due to newly acquiring qualities that were not previously present, this is the meaning of immutability. In the completely pure state, the self-nature luminosity and qualities such as power are indistinguishable, like a jewel and its color and shape, this is the meaning of indistinguishability. The self-nature luminosity exists in all embodied beings, illustrated by nine metaphors, of which the three metaphors of Buddha, honey, and essence respectively represent the self-benefit perfected enlightenment Dharmakaya (chos sku), and the other-benefit perfected profound ultimate truth (don dam pa'i bden pa) and the teaching Dharmakaya (chos sku bstan) that reveals various conventional truths (kun rdzob kyi bden pa), in order to generate joy in the result. After that, the metaphor of gold represents suchness (de bzhin nyid), in order to know that its self-nature, like pure gold, does not change in any state, this is the self-nature of suchness. After that, the other five metaphors represent the cause of the perfect result, in order for those to be tamed to understand how to obtain this result, and in order to know that because there is this cause, this result can be obtained, thereby striving on the path. Among them, the two metaphors of treasure and tree represent the nature of the naturally abiding and increasing lineage, and how the three kayas result from these two causes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
