If one thinks thus, then the three metaphors of the jewel, the Chakravartin (Sanskrit: Chakravartin, meaning: Wheel-Turning King), and the golden statue show the power of the fruits of these two (sentient beings and Buddhas), which are the three bodies (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, Nirmanakaya). In this way, the uncertain number and order of the nine metaphors can also be determined. Thus, the necessity of explaining the Tathāgatagarbha (Sanskrit: Tathāgatagarbha, meaning: Buddha-nature) with euphemistic language is twofold: the literal necessity and the necessity of the deeper meaning. First, for those who are attached to 'self', they can abandon the fear of no-self and thus enter the teachings of the Buddha. Second, for beginners of the Mahayana lineage, they can eliminate the five faults such as timidity, and generate five qualities, thereby quickly attaining unsurpassed Bodhi. In short, to cause those who have not entered the Buddha's teachings to enter, and to cause those who have entered to perfectly complete them, this is the necessity here. From the many extremely profound Sutras, how the great chariot masters understood the profound meaning of the Tathāgatagarbha, which was spoken of, is analyzed and clarified with scriptural and logical proofs. What others say besides what is said here, even if it looks similar, only increases confusion. Whether this is so or not, please let those with impartial wisdom eyes observe with the Sutras as a mirror. May the meaningful virtue of this effort eliminate the darkness of ignorance as boundless as the sky, and may I quickly attain the state of omniscient Buddhahood, which possesses the eyes that see suchness (Tibetan: ཇི་ལྟ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: yathātathā, Sanskrit Romanization: yathātathā, Chinese literal meaning: as it is) and allness (Tibetan: ཇི་སྙེད་, Sanskrit Devanagari: yāvatāvat, Sanskrit Romanization: yāvatāvat, Chinese literal meaning: all that is)! This was written by the Shakya monk Geshe Shönnu Lodrö. The scribe was Pandit Dorje. At the auspicious Ngamring Monastery, Jamyang Namkha Rinchen and his brothers acted as patrons, and while the Sangha north of Yarlung Tsangpo were accumulating the scriptures, Drungpo Jamyangpa and the Sangha agreed to the request to write a complete text on the essence of the Uttaratantra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
