If you sincerely wish to accomplish both your own and others' benefit, you must attain perfect enlightenment. For this, as stated in works such as the Ornament for Clear Realization, the Garland of Jewels for the Middle Way, the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, etc., you must generate bodhicitta, which has its root in love and compassion, and learn the conduct of a bodhisattva. That is, as stated in the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, you must generate bodhicitta and then protect the precepts. The way to protect the precepts is to protect your mind. The way to protect your mind is to rely on mindfulness and awareness. The cause for relying on mindfulness and awareness is faith in cause and effect and respect for the precepts, etc., which are very important. The way to learn the practice of training the mind with mindfulness and awareness is also as follows: "The conduct of bodhisattvas is said to be immeasurable, but the practice of training the mind is definitely to be practiced as much as possible." And in the Compendium of Trainings it says, "The training of a bodhisattva is complete here, that is, completely taming the mind." And as it says, "In all activities, train the mind of enlightenment, and the mind of enlightenment should precede all activities." Therefore, all the activities of bodhisattvas should be taken over by mindfulness and awareness, and whether directly or indirectly, you must learn to become the cause of benefiting others and enlightenment. As stated in the Sutra of the King's Instructions, if you do not abandon the aspiration bodhicitta, all the precepts of a bodhisattva are included in it. If you abandon the aspiration bodhicitta, even if you hold vows, it will become a root downfall. Therefore, whether you can actually benefit others immediately or not, you must purify it by training in the afflictions, and prevent the downfall of entering without examination, and do your best to not abandon the thought of benefiting others. The way for a beginner to benefit others is also as stated by Dromtönpa. As it says in the Explanation of the Mind of Enlightenment: "Although there is no power to benefit others, one should always make this aspiration. Whoever has this aspiration, he truly enters into its meaning." Therefore, no matter what you enter into, whether it is the practice of sutra or tantra, whether it is hearing, thinking, or meditating, the lifeblood that brings together a hundred essentials into one and a thousand strands into one root is to guard the doors of the senses with mindfulness and awareness, and to always look at your own mind and accomplish the benefit of others. I think this is the most important thing. The venerable Vajradhara said, "In terms of meaning, a virtuous mind is the best of virtues, therefore, examine your own mind."

Especially, it is crucial to constantly observe one's own mind with mindfulness, awareness, and steadfast diligence. Whether contemplating contaminated or uncontaminated phenomena, being embraced by bodhicitta is unparalleled. Although this was kindly given to me a long time ago, it is only now that I have truly grasped the essential point of practice. To establish this certainty, I will gather many scriptures and instructions here. As stated in the "Sutra Requested by the Naga King": "Lord of the Nagas, Bodhisattvas, through one dharma, cut off the cycle of falling into evil realms and bad destinies, and obtain pure rebirths. What is that one dharma? It is like this: 'How do I exist, how do the days and nights pass, what am I doing,' and individually examine virtuous dharmas." The "Letter to a Friend" states: "The Victorious Ones have shown mindfulness of the powerful body as the sole path." It also says: "This beneficial advice is: Tame your mind, for the Bhagavan has said that the mind is the root of Dharma." The "Bodhicharyavatara" states: "Besides guarding the mind, what is the use of many ascetic practices?" and so on. The incomparable Jowo Atisha said: "With mindfulness, awareness, and diligence, constantly guard the doors of the senses. Three times day and night, repeatedly examine the mindstream." He also said: "The best of qualities is altruistic intention, the best of instructions is to constantly observe one's own mind, the best of friends are mindfulness and awareness." and so on, there are many sayings of the Kadampa school. Gyalsé Thogmé also said: "In short, whatever actions you do, constantly examine with mindfulness and awareness what state your own mind is in, accomplishing the benefit of others is the practice of a Bodhisattva." Thus it is said. In "Question White Lotus," Je Rinpoche said: "You Tibetan meditators say you have good meditation, what is the beginning or root of all meditations?" To this, Jetsun Lobsang Chökyi Gyaltsen said in "Question and Answer: The Sound of Lobsang's Laughter": "The very first beginning of all meditations, as it is said in the Indian language, is to well examine one's own mindstream, the peerless supreme lama asserts." The great accomplished Kalsang Gyatso said: "In short, whatever action is in accordance with Dharma, is\
