Just like that, the naked awareness without any clinging, free from the discrimination of "this is" and "this is not," unpolluted by the conceptual thoughts that flow in the realm of the three times, like white clouds floating in the unsupported sky, that is what is called compassionate awareness. Although the awareness of the essence of emptiness and the compassionate awareness are, as previously explained, the same in essence, in the two, emptiness and awareness, here it is necessary to recognize and abide from the perspective of awareness. This does not require the initial merging of the winds into the central channel, etc., but is able to manifest the innate mind of awareness. This compassionate awareness, or the awareness of capacity, is like "the king not departing from his throne," never wavering from the state of emptiness and freedom from elaboration, and never arising as the nature of any appearance that it manifests itself. Just as mercury falling into dust is not contaminated by the dust, this awareness, although abiding in the nature of all conceptual thoughts, such as afflictions like attachment, and all virtuous thoughts like faith, and all indeterminate conceptual thoughts, never becomes those conceptual thoughts. Therefore, this is the wisdom that has never wavered from the kingdom of emptiness, the non-conceptual nature in which the nature of all phenomena is unestablished. If one can make good use of this method, one can easily touch the ultimate emptiness of all phenomena, it is the wisdom that can reach the depths of reality, or the individual self-cognizant wisdom, or the king of insight. It is like if one is familiar with and becomes friends with the treasurer of the great king, one can also open the king's treasury. In the context of Dzogchen, if it is said that there is awareness, that is sufficient, if it is said that there is not, that is a defect, that is how it is said. Therefore, although in most of the unsurpassable tantras, there is an introduction to the awareness of the essence to be realized, or the emptiness part, the way in which the compassionate, all-pervasive capacity awareness of the wisdom awareness that can realize is nakedly extracted and protected, thereby escaping from the shell of delusion and abiding on the throne of the unconfused innate awareness, is the root characteristic of the Dzogchen Upadesha section. Those who understand little think that here emptiness and awareness are divided into two parts, the introduction of awareness is the main one, but it also includes the introduction of emptiness.

From the time of the initial introduction until now, this ordinary, natural state of awareness, which cannot be expressed in any words, is precisely the introduction of all samsara and nirvana as the true nature. Therefore, what is called "Dzogchen awareness recognition" is like explaining the wisdom of the noble one's samadhi. When one arrives at the original awareness, in its presence, there is no appearance of samsara to be abandoned or nirvana to be attained. Like whirling a spear in the sky, all attachments are relinquished. If this is recognized in the dharmadhatu, then awareness has been introduced. Mistaking mere non-conceptualization, which is simply stopping the mind, for awareness, and then bringing forth clarity upon it, saying that it is not the alaya, etc., is not awareness recognition. Such a state exists in the ninth stage of mind-abiding, one-pointedness of desire, and also in shamatha. In particular, in the samadhi of the fourth dhyana, the experience of clarity and non-conceptuality are equal, and it is very easy to work with, which is amazing, but it is not close to the side of awareness-wisdom. Therefore, realizing the true nature of all dharmas as they are is indispensable for those who desire liberation, and this is the view of both sutra and tantra. For Dzogchen, what need is there to mention the view of realizing the true nature? Moreover, if it is understood that there is no path like this that can easily find the view of realizing the true nature and quickly reach the depths of the dharmadhatu, then seeking it is very important, and a brief mention has already been made earlier. If the introduction of awareness occurs without error, just as having eyes allows one to see forms, seeing the emptiness of dharmata, when awareness arises, there is no need to seek it separately from that. Therefore, if one can extract awareness nakedly in samadhi and abide in it, then at that time, no object-appearances of the six consciousnesses will arise, as if awareness has become one. And, if one directs forms, sounds, etc., from the basis of awareness, then those will appear in awareness, but not like they appear to ordinary beings with attachment, merely appearing, and only as names, without being established from the side of the object. In short, in the context of the completion stage of other highest yogas, in order to generate such a state where the essence or the clear light of awareness arises at the time of death, by pressing the vital point of the mind on the channels, winds, and bindus, just as at the time of death, all winds and mind dissolve into the heart center.
