There is nothing more important than the method of gathering it into the indestructible bindu. Here, introducing and maintaining awareness itself is equivalent to striking the vital point of the central channel, prana, and bindu. And the key instruction on how to introduce it is the view of realizing the nature of reality, so one must strive to seek the three aspects of learning, reflection, and meditation by uniting the instructions of the omniscient one, the words of the lineage lamas, and one's own faith and diligence. After recognizing it in this way, maintaining that state is called meditation. That is, unlike when practicing mind training, there is no such thing as "extending the object" by separating the object of meditation and the meditator and grasping with conceptual thought. However, for beginners, it is like searching for the three places of origin, dwelling, and destination. After becoming somewhat familiar, purify it by letting the mind follow the objects of the three times in a natural state, so that one's own awareness is not transformed by external conditions, the inner mind is not stained by subtle or coarse thoughts, does not fall into the dullness of unconsciousness, and is not corrupted by the effort of conceptual analysis, but remains clear, naked, and unmoving in that very state, like a great ocean undisturbed by the wind, calm and clear. At this time, if one stirs it with the effort of abandoning and adopting thoughts, one will lose the knack of effortless abiding, so awareness will not be able to abide in the realm of emptiness and clarity, so one must be skilled in the knack of effortless abiding, it is said. That is, one should practice in short sessions, many times, and continuously, like the dripping water of an old house, fresh and dense. Beginners are said to need mindfulness of the nature of reality, so one should not seek high things, but should place it on practice, remembering it in the intervals, and it is also important to observe how one's own mind abides and to maintain vigilant mindfulness. By gradually practicing in this way, first, recognizing thoughts is liberation, like meeting someone one knows. Then, thoughts liberate themselves, like a snake's knot untying itself. Then, thoughts are liberated in a way that is neither beneficial nor harmful, like a thief entering an empty house. It is said that the latter of these three is the time when one touches actual awareness, as Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa said. At these times, whether coarse or subtle thoughts arise, and whether they are virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral,

I do not follow after thoughts. Instead of seeking antidotes elsewhere, without abandoning, when thoughts arise, recognize the very moment of their arising, and look at the thoughts themselves. In this way, the part of the thought that scatters to external objects is cut off. The internal clinging also dissolves, becoming without any attachment, spacious and open. On this very naked state, abide like a person who has already completed their task. Like this, in meditative equipoise, strip away the false garment of thoughts from awareness and abide in that, this is the key. In the post-meditation period, for beginners, no matter whether the external objects seen and heard are pleasant or unpleasant, do your best to prevent the arising of attachment and aversion. When the practice of awareness is slightly stable, remember the awareness of meditative equipoise, just as the image appearing in a mirror is inseparable from the mirror itself, the appearances of the six senses are also merely appearing on the mirror of one's own awareness due to the aggregation of conditions, thinking in this way and striving to see everything as illusory. Whenever encountering pleasant situations, painful situations, gain or loss, pleasant or unpleasant sounds, praise or blame, etc., visualize all good and bad appearances as like images, all pleasant or unpleasant sounds as like echoes in a valley, and from the very beginning of the arising of thoughts of attachment and aversion, experience the thoughts disappearing without any basis. These appearances of objects cannot steal away the practice of awareness or view, just as salt dissolves in water, they will dissolve into the realm of awareness, into the vast expanse of space. It is said that such a state exists. It is said that this is the moment when the so-called "mastering self-appearance" begins. Generally, even if stable shamatha is accomplished, and one abides in that in meditative equipoise, and maintains a state of non-distraction in the post-meditation period, it is merely preventing the arising of thoughts such as attachment, and it is completely different from using the wisdom of realizing the nature of reality as an antidote to eradicate the root of afflictions—ignorance—from its very foundation. Know that this is tending towards fundamentally destroying the clinging to reality. Sarva Mangalam (藏文, སརྦ་མངྒ་ལཾ། ,梵文天城体,सर्व मङ्गलम्,梵文罗马拟音,sarva maṅgalam,All auspiciousness!). This is the oral transmission of the venerable lama when giving experiential instructions on the Great Perfection of Naturalness.
