It is said, then what is ordinary awareness? There is no reason to explain. Ordinary means unadulterated. The Omniscient One said, "Ordinary awareness is self-liberation, the path of the victorious ones." The Vajra of Luminous Emanation said, "Ordinary awareness naturally ceases." This means that the ordinary awareness of delusion and misconception ceases, but the Sugata-garbha is immutable, so it does not cease. The ordinary awareness of clinging to experience is clinging to experience. Innate ordinary awareness is the Sugata-garbha. There are also many distinctions in non-mentation. Non-mentation from the beginning is the view of the Heshang. He said, "My view is like throwing upwards, like an eagle swooping down from the sky. I do not approve of your view, which is like a monkey climbing up a tree." Furthermore, there is a difference between non-mentation in Sutra and Tantra. In the Sutra path, through the reasoning of the four extremes and the reasoning of the sevenfold chariot, etc., it is determined that all dharmas are not established by their own nature, are unreal like illusions, and when abiding in emptiness, there is non-mentation. In the Tantric stages of generation and completion, at the time of the direct pointing of the four emptinesses of luminosity and the direct pointing of the four joys of wisdom, the five sense consciousnesses, etc., cease, so there are various non-mentations. The non-mentation of understanding the essential points of the Sutra and Tantra paths, and the non-mentation of the Heshang, are vastly different in terms of high and low. The key to cutting the net of existence is to liberate the bonds of consciousness and mind, and luminosity must be awakened. Just as rice and barley, etc., are separated from their husks, all the husks of experience must be scattered, so that the general meaning of awareness is revealed nakedly. Seeing one's own face, meditating by abiding in the natural state, acting with whatever arises self-liberating, and abiding in that without straying, then all the Tantric vows cannot be broken. Ignorant refers to the alaya-vijnana ignorance, foolish means this. Non-conceptual utterly clear. When abiding naturally, meditation is of utmost importance. As it is said, "Like drinking water and milk mixed together, if these two are mixed and meditated, it is the way of fools. Know that after death, one will be reborn as an animal." Thus it is said. Clinging to the experience of bliss

Having the apprehended and the apprehender. Without attachment to the experience of bliss, unattached and clear and bright. If thoughts are numerous and confusing, settle into the natural state and grasp the original ground of awareness, the basis of liberation. Even if there are unclear and turbid states and various coarse and subtle sensations, for a practitioner, this is unavoidable. Whatever happens, do not be discouraged or annoyed, but unite the four opponent powers, refuge, bodhicitta, etc., with the path, pray to one deity, blend your heart and mind, and through short, frequent practice, you will eventually realize. You must practice based on the way of realizing the five experiences such as agitation. When a practitioner practices, the view should be established by the guru's instructions. It is essential to distinguish between mind and awareness and to develop proficiency in wisdom. During practice, just as water is clear when undisturbed, once awareness arises, it is important not to engage in confusing analysis, but to settle into the natural state. At any time, analysis, etc., obscures both shamatha and vipashyana. The continuity of mindfulness must be maintained. As it is said, losing mindfulness is losing practice, and gaining mindfulness is gaining practice, but if mindfulness is too tight, the great scholar said: Building an iron fortress of mindfulness, like here in Tibet, they only know how to build but not how to dismantle. The pacification of all confusion of the three times, and abiding in that state, is called shamatha. Although most people consider the root of abiding to be insignificant, from the sutras to Dzogchen, there is no scripture, lineage, or instruction that says one can practice without the union of shamatha and vipashyana. Shamatha and vipashyana are like the two wings of a bird. The degree of familiarity is measured by dreams, and the signs are shown by behavior. Therefore, one should know the experience and realization by whether or not one has realized the clear light of dreams in one's own mindstream. The sign is that after experiencing the clear light in samadhi, its power manifests in the post-meditation state, thereby knowing that all beings have the Sugata-garbha in their mindstream, and generating impartial compassion for those beings who have not realized it. Knowing that the Buddha's intention dwells in the mindstream of beings, thereby generating special conviction, and being able to purify appearance and existence into the vastness of the Dharmadhatu. In the state of samadhi, all good, bad, and neutral thoughts are liberated without accumulating habitual tendencies, and afterwards
