It is the characteristic of Napa. As it is said, these two, when distinguished from the perspective of metaphors, the mind is like looking outwards, following various objects, clinging to this and that, and speculating, like the moon on the fifteenth day, its own light radiating outwards, pervading all objects, and attracting; awareness is like the moon in the clear sky, its own light not radiating outwards, but being clear in the depths, similarly, the self-abiding awareness, clear and bright, without obstruction, like the reflection appearing in a mirror. All appearing objects, without obstruction, are vividly shining, yet not scattering outwards onto the objects, awareness has the power of clarity, without losing its own nature, therefore there is no dullness either, the play arising from the power, all without the opportunity to accumulate habits, naturally liberated, and free from agitation. Thus, from the perspective of metaphors and meanings, there are many ways to distinguish. In short, the nature of the eight consciousnesses is wisdom, the eight consciousnesses are the phenomena, and the wisdom of its own nature, the dharma-nature, should not be acknowledged as either one or different. As it is said in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra: "The realm of formations and the ultimate nature are the nature of being apart from one and different. Whoever thinks of one and different, they are entering into improper views." Thus, therefore, these two are not one in terms of expression, merely realizing the mind, one cannot realize the wisdom of the mind's nature, and because the phenomena are the dharma-nature, and so on. In the ultimate sense, they are not different, because the nature of the mind is wisdom, when wisdom is realized, the mind also cannot be seen as different from it. From the wheel of dharma in the heart, when the wisdom of luminous awareness awakens, there is not even a particle of what is called mind. All that appears manifests as the great mandala of self-appearing wisdom, like when one goes to the precious golden continent, even if one searches for ordinary land and stones, one cannot find them, therefore this is very important, please understand. Regarding the thigle empty lamp, in general, there are also three thigles: the thigle as the basis, the thigle as the path of appearance, and the thigle as the fruit of self-ripening. The first refers to the dharmadhatu adorned with awareness. In Dzogchen, it is called the thigle of Kuntuzangpo, and because it has the nature of five lights, it is also called the spontaneously accomplished thigle. From the father tantra Guhyasamaja, the inborn
