Its essence is that, no matter how many fine names and profound principles are spoken of, such as the New and Old Tantras, Mahamudra, and Dzogchen, the ultimate essence is that, apart from recognizing awareness of this mind that doesn't do nine things but does one thing in the present moment, whatever it remembers, whatever arises, there is nothing more to do. Although there is a saying of "abiding and protecting, and not abiding and protecting," that is only a saying from the time of initially practicing calm abiding. For actual meditation, it is not necessary to only abide. If awareness is recognized in whatever arises, whether abiding or moving, everything is meditation, everything is samadhi. If awareness does not know its own nature, then abiding is not meditation, and moving is not meditation. In short, what is called meditation is recognizing this naked, clear mind in the present moment. That is also called the essence of meditation, and it is also called samadhi. Whatever name is given, such as view, meditation, or conduct, there is nothing other than this. If you are attached to meditation as only abiding without letting the mind wander, that is fabricated meditation. If you do not recognize your own nature, even if the mind abides for a long time without wandering, it is only an experience. Wandering is conceptual thought. Neither of these two can be considered meditation. The key point is that no matter what kind of conceptual thought arises, or whatever specific manifestation of the five poisons arises, do not try to abandon or block them. Do not follow after tasting their flavor. It is enough to simply leave them as selfless. If you do not forget this naked, clear self-awareness in all activities such as going, staying, eating, and sleeping, you do not need any other meditation. Even if you actually see the deity of the Yidam vividly, it is only a manifestation of your own mind. You do not need to seek refuge in it; self-awareness is enough. Even if a billion armies of demons and obstacles come and chop you into pieces of flesh and scatter your blood, do not be afraid, because that is also a manifestation of your own mind. Ultimately, there is nothing in samsara and nirvana that is not a manifestation of the mind, so it is important not to cling to anything as true. In that state, do not abandon the various unimpeded manifestations of the mind's energy, the conventional self-nature that is like a dream. Pay attention to the details of cause and effect, engage in elaborate virtuous activities, accumulate merit and purify obscurations, have devotion to higher beings, compassion for lower beings, and pure perception for intermediate beings. Make the three doors (body, speech, and mind) conform to the Dharma. Even if you understand the state of emptiness of mind, do not underestimate even a single word of praise or blame until the habitual tendencies of delusion are exhausted.

Ah! Even being pricked by a thorn or struck by a spark is unbearable. Instead of making empty boasts, tame your own mind. Whatever happiness or suffering arises, entrust your mind to the Guru and the Three Jewels. Always maintain a humble position and purify impure perceptions. Since abandoning this life and spending it in retreat repays the kindness of the Guru and the kindness of parents who are as vast as space through the Dharma, please keep this in mind. This is the testament and heartfelt words of an old man, please remember them well. Regarding all aspects of practice, although there is nothing more than what was said before, the most important thing is to cultivate the unadulterated self-awareness of daytime appearances, without distraction or grasping, in both Mahamudra and Dzogchen, and to unify them as one. Whether it is during sleep, at the time of death, or in the bardo, there is no need for many different instructions, because this uncreated Dharmakaya itself is sufficient and profound. Therefore, I think it would be good to hold onto this tightly in all activities such as walking, sitting, eating, sleeping, and so on, so please consider this. From the moment you obtain the precious human rebirth with leisure and endowments, strive only in the sacred Dharma, and whatever happiness or suffering, good or bad, sickness, pain, or adversity arises, know it as purification of obscurations and blessings, and strive in supplication. Know that the Guru and your own mind are inseparable, and that the three kayas are spontaneously present from the beginning, and are inherently so. Therefore, in a state of non-distraction, non-confusion, clear, bright, open, and relaxed, engage in virtuous activities and union. May the compassion and power of the Three Jewels of Refuge, the root and lineage Gurus, the Yidam deities, the Dakinis, and all Dharma protectors, and the truth and power of the limitless auspicious connections of the pure nature of reality, enable us to receive the complete transmission of this profound Dharma teaching in this life. May the words and meanings of this teaching be completely integrated into our being, and may realization and practice manifest, so that in this very life, we may spontaneously accomplish the two benefits of self and others, and be able to place all sentient beings who pervade space on the state of Buddhahood. kāya siddhi oṃ (藏文:ཀཱ་ཡ་སིདྡྷི་ཨཱོཾཿ,梵文天城体:काय सिद्धि ओṃ,梵文罗马拟音:kāya siddhi oṃ,汉语字面意思:身成就 嗡) vākk siddhi āḥ (藏文:ཝཀྐ་སིདྡྷི་ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:वाक्क सिद्धि आः,梵文罗马拟音:vākk siddhi āḥ,汉语字面意思:语成就 阿) citta siddhi hūṃ (藏文:ཙིཏྟ་སིདྡྷི་ཧཱུྃཿ,梵文天城体:चित्त सिद्धि हूँ,梵文罗马拟音:citta siddhi hūṃ,汉语字面意思:意成就 吽) sarva siddhi hrīḥ (藏文:སརྦ་སིདྡྷི་ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:सर्व सिद्धि ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:sarva siddhi hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:一切成就 舍) The meaning of "severance" is that the present conceptual thoughts and movements themselves are luminosity. The one who recognizes and remembers this luminosity is called "remembrance," also called "self-awareness," also called "samadhi," also called "vipassana," which is the Dharma.
