In order to be liberated from suffering, I pray that from this moment until enlightenment, the master of all lineages and mandalas will reside as my ornament on the lotus and sun-moon cushion on the great bliss wheel on the crown of my head. That is the first point. Secondly, the inner guide, the virtuous friend, is mindfulness and awareness, etc. Mindfulness, awareness, vigilance, and the six perfections are all included. Mindfulness is the basis of all dharmas. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: 'The Sugata has taught that mindfulness, which belongs to the powerful body, is the only path. One should diligently guard it, for the loss of mindfulness destroys all dharmas.' This means that, (king), you are called the powerful one, and in all situations of conduct, mindfulness, which belongs to the body and so on, is what the Sugata has taught as the only path that all who desire liberation must enter from here. Awareness is taught as the source of all perfections. That is, knowing the order of the names and terms of all dharmas, and knowing the meanings that depend on them without confusion, knowing the cause and effect of desiring the happiness of higher realms, and knowing well the cause and effect of accomplishing liberation and the state of omniscience. Awareness is the source of the glory of these four categories. If there is no awareness, as it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara: 'Even hearing, thinking, and meditating with a mind without awareness, like water in a leaking pot, it does not remain in mindfulness.' Furthermore, vigilance is the root of all virtuous dharmas. As it is said in the Sutra of the Moon Lamp: 'Discipline, learning, giving, and likewise patience, all the virtuous things that are spoken of, the root of all of them is said to be vigilance, like obtaining a treasure, thus the Buddha spoke.' Thus and so forth. Therefore, I pray that through the compassion and blessings of the Guru, all of mindfulness, awareness, and vigilance will arise in my own mind and become completely clear. From where are the outer and inner guides spoken of? In the Compendium Sutra it says: 'Buddhas who have entered the supreme enlightenment, Bodhisattvas, and the Paramitas, should be relied upon as virtuous friends. This is the follower of them, it is the basis for practice. With two causes, one can quickly attain Buddhahood.'

It is said thus. In the "Summary Explanation" of Mipham Rinpoche, it says: The Buddhas, the Bhagavad, and the Bodhisattvas who have entered the supreme Bodhi, as well as the path of Paramita, etc., should be relied upon as virtuous friends. That is to say, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are those who show this Mahayana to others, therefore they are called external upholders. For their teachings, this path of Paramita is the place or abode for practice or accomplishment, therefore it is called internal upholder. Thus, the external and internal upholders can prevent falling into paths other than the supreme Mahayana path, therefore, relying on these two causes of upholders, in these two ways, one can quickly attain the Bodhi of the Buddha, because it is the unparalleled perfect cause. It is said thus. In "Entering the Wise" it is also said: After relying on the external upholder, the virtuous friend who properly shows the Mahayana, obtain the Prajna Paramita that possesses all the supreme means, the equality that is free from all extremes, which is the supreme of the means close to obtaining Buddhahood, far from permanence and characteristics, far from the Mother of Results, becoming the antidote to the contradictory aspects of the Mahayana path, after receiving the complete and unerring key to the profound and vast dual path, thus contemplate, without separating from the internal upholder. It is said thus. Then there are the seven aspects of the body posture of Vairochana: Legs in vajra posture or half-lotus posture. Hands in equanimity mudra. Spine stacked like coins. Shoulders relaxed and extended. Neck slightly bent. Lips not touching, tongue touching the upper palate while breathing slowly. Eyes lowered to the tip of the nose, these are the seven aspects. Having thus properly adjusted the body posture, the nine rounds of expelling wind are: the left hand forms the vajra fist, pressing on the root of the thigh. The right hand forms the vajra three-pointed mudra, blocking the right nostril, exhale three times from the left nostril. From the right nostril also exhale three times as before. Both hands form the vajra fist, pressing on the roots of both thighs, exhale three times from both nostrils together, which is the nine rounds. Among them, what comes out of the right nostril is the anger of
