For all sentient beings who travel in the realms, to show them the way according to what they need to be tamed, thus simultaneously accomplishing both temporary and ultimate benefits, that body which embodies these various excellent aspects is the Nirmanakaya (emanation body), one of the two Rupakayas (form bodies) of the Buddha. Now, the fourth activity will be explained: all the activities of the Buddha's body, speech, and mind are spontaneously accomplished solely for the benefit of sentient beings; this is activity. Likewise, just as the various Nirmanakayas continuously work for the benefit of others as long as Samsara exists, similarly, until Samsara ends, the actions and activities of this Buddha's body, speech, and mind will be continuous. Here, these activities are divided into twenty-seven categories and explained as follows: To place upon this, to combine with this, to bind to this, to guide to this, to encourage to this, to introduce to this, to instruct to this—these are to be understood as different categories. Gradually pacifying beings in the lower realms and the realms of gods, the activity of removing obstacles to Nirvana through the three vehicles; the activity of guiding humans to the four means of attraction; the activity of understanding all defiled and purified dharmas as illusory; the activity of placing the true benefit of sentient beings in the ultimate meaning; the activity of placing the practice of the six paramitas (perfections) that are like illusions; the activity of placing the wisdom of the Buddha in this; the activity of understanding all dharmas as emptiness; the activity of understanding all dharmas as being primordially exhausted; although the nature is emptiness, when distinguishing dharmas, accepting conventional names and languages without harm; the activity of placing generosity and other practices in the absence of the three spheres; the activity of placing the roots of virtue of sentient beings in complete maturation; because Bodhisattvas have no dharma they do not learn, understanding all dharmas as the path of the Bodhisattva; to place upon this in order to reverse the pride of sentient beings who cling to phenomena as real; Bodhisattvas, with unadulterated diligence, perfectly attain enlightenment through the Vajra-like Samadhi; placing the naturally pure negative actions of body, speech, and mind in the pure Buddha-fields; from the initial generation of Bodhicitta to the Bodhisattva's eventual attainment of Buddhahood. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
