These are all conventional truths. Sabta Sobta is false, and Ala Ole is also. In reality, there is not a single moment of true existence. One should understand that it is like the sixteen examples of illusion and then proceed to practice. Having arrived, the practice is: to cut off the gods and demons of the external fearful realm, to cut off the conceptual thoughts of the internal fearer, and to cut off the nature of the intermediate fear. Firstly: observe the gods and demons of that fearful realm, Firstly, from where do they come, where do they reside in the middle, and where do they go in the end? Observe and abide in the state of thinking they do not exist. Observe the shape of the gods and demons, whether they are square or round, etc., and where they are. Observe the color, whether it is white, red, yellow, etc., and what it is like. Observe whether it is male, female, or hermaphrodite, and abide in the state of not being able to find it. Look at the form of the gods and demons with your eyes, listen to the sound with your ears, smell the scent with your nose, speak words with your mouth, and touch the gods and demons with your hands to see what they are like. Abide in the state of not finding and emptiness. The method of cutting off the conceptual thoughts of the internal fearer is: turn your face inward, and that very mind of the agent who fears the ghost. From the crown of the head above to the soles of the feet below, look from the outside, inside, and middle three aspects, and see where it is. Observe what the shape, color, or nature of the fearer is like. After observing, abide in the state of not finding and emptiness. The method of cutting off the agent of the intermediate fear is: observe what the nature of the so-called fear is like. Observe where it resides. Observe what the shape and color are like. Having observed in this way, the fearful realm is not found from the outside, the fearer is not found from the inside, and the nature of the fear is not found from the middle. If it were something real, it should be found, but because it is not, it cannot be found, so relax and abide in that state. The practice for the third night is: firstly, when going, go with the great strength of view, with the experience of meditation, and with the great heart of Chöd. Firstly, the body and wisdom of the Buddha above are also manifestations of the mind, and in reality, they are not established. The description of the lifespan of the hells below, the size of the body, and the suffering of heat and cold are also not truly established. They are expedient deceptions for children. The happiness and suffering, high and low, of the people in between, the accomplishments of gods and demons, the obstacles of ghosts, etc., are all created by conceptual thought.

It is. One should think that in reality, there has never been even a particle of true establishment. To have the experience of meditation is: in the past, at the time of introduction, one should not be separated from the practice of introduction, and in meditative equipoise, all dharmas are never true, there is not even appearance, like the center of the sky. In post-meditation, although there is only appearance, one should realize it as unreal, like a dream or illusion. The great essence of conduct is: no matter what happens, whether it is sickness, suffering, adverse conditions, obstacles, ferocity, or miraculous transformations, one should not be afraid or timid, without doubt or hesitation, without abandoning or adopting, negating or affirming, without hope or fear, hesitation or indecision, but like a wolf entering a flock of sheep, or a lion walking among wild animals, one should go without fear or timidity. Having arrived, one should practice these three words: relying on gods and demons to cut off the root of conceptual thought, relying on fear to cut off the root of self-grasping, and relying on obstacles to cut off the root of samsara and nirvana. The first is: this very nature of mind has never had substance, it has never had substance in the past, and it is impossible for it to arise as a substance in the future. If even I, the owner, cannot find this very nature of mind, then if you, the demon, can find it, then search for it. Contemplate that the idea of the existence of demons is true, permanent, a huge, black, hulking figure with many arms and legs, holding various weapons. Think that it brings various harms, and observe whether the insubstantial mind has benefit or harm. Observe whether the insubstantial mind becomes substantial or not. Observe whether gods and demons truly exist or not. Relying on fear to cut off the root of self-grasping is: if there is fear, then make it even more fearful, even more fearful. Make it even more frightening, even more timid. Relying on that, observe whether you can find the moving, insubstantial consciousness or not. Observe what the one who is afraid is like. Observe what the scope of fear is like. Relying on obstacles to cut off the root of samsara and nirvana is: doubting that obstacles will occur, hoping that they will not occur, and the obstacles that do occur are substantial, and all of that is the substantial manifestation of the mind. Therefore, samsara and nirvana are both actions of the mind. Doubting that one will wander in samsara, hoping to attain Buddhahood, all of that is one's own.
