Five In this degenerate age, beings are extremely difficult to tame. Like a prince, a lion among men, like an invincible crown jewel, like a second Buddha. The glorious and powerful yogi, the venerable Little Black One from India, with compassion, gazes upon beings with the power of the prophecies of the noble ones. He arrived at Dingri (Dingri County) in Upper Tsang, a place of wonder and supreme auspicious connection, complete with the four substances. Due to past karma and fortune, and the great auspicious connection, he was embraced, thus surpassing other accomplished ones. The words and meanings of the profound oral instructions of the sutras, tantras, treatises, and lamas are difficult for the dull-witted to realize. Through the key introductions and the great blessing of auspicious connection, he directly revealed them through various symbolic methods. The bodhisattva Kunga, the brave son of a fortunate one with karma, pure aspirations, and fortune, Recognized all the conversations as vessels for instructions, so he cherished and wrote them down. For this, the virtuous friend with the lineage of blessings, the yogi who opened the secret treasury, so that the essence of the oral instructions did not decline, and the great path of vision arose in his being. Having listened to the Dharma from many Sugatas, without any other beings intervening, it was the blessing of the Sugata Buddhas. The prince, the lion among men, saw the truth of reality. The venerable and precious master from India, Sangye (Buddha), possessed many great qualities. He had the auspicious connection of previously accumulating merit and purifying obscurations, and the karma from the past. His pure aspirations were continuous like a flock of sheep. The bodhisattva Kunga was a fortunate vessel free from the five faults. From the ordinary ground, he asked questions at the time of fear and protection, and from the ground of having grasped the path of practice, he asked questions at the time of good wishes, and from the ground of the realized one who cuts through doubts, he asked questions at the time of renunciation. To these questions, the venerable master replied: At the time of the yoga of the basis of action, the answer is the path of liberation, like raising a victory banner on a ship. At the time of the yoga of the path of action, the answer is like a lamp showing the path, like the rising sun in the sky. At the time of the yoga of the result of non-action, the answer is like filling the treasury of the Tripitaka with jewels, like filling the belly with fat. These questions and answers, spoken in three ways, possess the nature of fifty-five chapters, and it is upon these that the explanation is given.
