One should know that there is no existence. Twelfth ༄༅། །The Truths of the Ultimate and the Conventional The characteristics of the ultimate truth and the conventional truth are, in order: That which is free from the elaborations of inherent existence, inexpressible, beyond the knowable, the known, and the measurable; And that which appears as various interdependent phenomena. Thirteenth ༄༅། །The Three Characteristics The three characteristics are: the completely imputed, the dependent, and the thoroughly established. The characteristics, in order, are: the imputed sign [mark] that is imputed by conceptual thought as if it existed, though it does not; The interdependence that appears as the apprehended and the apprehender, arising from causes and conditions; and the ultimate that is established as the object of non-conceptual wisdom. Divisions: The completely imputed has two types: the completely imputed that is entirely severed from characteristics, and the nominally imputed. The dependent has two types: the pure dependent and the impure dependent. The pure dependent refers to the paths of the noble ones that appear as the apprehended and the apprehender. The thoroughly established has two types: the immutable thoroughly established and the non-perverted thoroughly established. The non-perverted thoroughly established refers to the non-conceptual wisdom of the paths of the noble ones. Fourteenth ༄༅། །The Three: Virtuous, Non-Virtuous, and Neutral The characteristics of the three—virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral—are, in order: A dharma that is declared [by the Buddha], worthy of praise by the noble ones; That which is worthy of blame by the noble ones; and a dharma that is neither virtuous nor non-virtuous. Fifteenth ༄༅། །The Four Truths The four truths are: the truth of suffering, the truth of origin, the truth of cessation, and the truth of the path. The characteristics of the four are, in order: The compounded result of contaminated emotions; the compounded cause of contaminated emotions; the uncompounded result of separation from the truth of the path; and the uncontaminated compounded [dharma] of emotions. Sixteenth ༄༅། །The Aggregates, Elements, and Sources The characteristics of the aggregates, elements, and sources are, in order: a thing that is a collection of many; That which performs the function of a type; that which becomes a gateway for the arising of consciousness. Divisions: First, there are five aggregates: the aggregate of form, the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of mental formations, and the aggregate of consciousness. The characteristics are, in order: A collection of many, which is a material thing that is the four elements or has the four elements as its cause; A mental factor that experiences its own object; A mental factor that apprehends the sign of an object; A compounded [dharma] that is other than the four—form, mind, feeling, and perception; And a [dharma] that knows the essence of a thing by its own power.

The five aggregates (Tibetan: བང་པོ་ལྔ་), the fifty-five dharmas (Tibetan: དོན་ལྔ་), and the non-material form (Tibetan: རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་མ་ཡིན་པའི་གཟུགས་), totaling eleven dharmas. Secondly, feeling, which includes three types: pleasure, pain, and neutral. Thirdly, small, large, and immeasurable. Fourthly, associated formations and non-associated formations. Fifthly, consciousness, which is the six or eight consciousnesses, as mentioned before. Secondly, dividing by realms (Sanskrit: dhātu): from the realm of form to the realm of dharma, there are six objects; from the realm of the eye to the realm of the mind, there are six faculties; from the realm of eye consciousness to the realm of mind consciousness, there are eighteen realms. Thirdly, dividing by sources (Sanskrit: āyatana): from the source of form to the source of dharma, there are six external sources; from the source of the eye to the source of the mind, there are six internal sources, totaling twelve sources. These are brief summaries; detailed information can be found in the Abhidharma and other treatises. May this virtue, through the nectar of the excellent treatises of Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, increase wisdom. May Jodang Kachinpa—Nyagphupa, who masters the four difficulties, quickly attain omniscience (Sanskrit: sarvajñāna) through excellent Sanskrit. This work, titled 'A Garland of Jewels: A Summary of Logical Meanings,' was composed by Kachinpa Sonam Sangpo, who understands both scripture and reasoning, at Pel Zurkhang Monastery, relying on the kindness of the wise Gekongpa Yeshe Senge and Yawonpo Kunga Pel. May this bring vast benefits to the Dharma and countless beings! The Abhidharma-kośa states: 'Non-associated formations include: attainment (Tibetan: ཐོབ་, Sanskrit: prāpti, Romanized Sanskrit: prāpti, meaning: to obtain), non-attainment (Tibetan: མ་ཐོབ་, Sanskrit: aprāpti, Romanized Sanskrit: aprāpti, meaning: not obtained), commonality (Tibetan: སྐལ་མཉམ་, Sanskrit: nikāyasabhāga, Romanized Sanskrit: nikāyasabhāga, meaning: same kind), cessation of perception (Tibetan: འདུ་ཤེས་མེད་, Sanskrit: asaṃjñisamāpatti, Romanized Sanskrit: asaṃjñisamāpatti, meaning: without perception), cessation of feeling and perception (Tibetan: སྙོམས་འཇུག་དག, Sanskrit: nirodhasamāpatti, Romanized Sanskrit: nirodhasamāpatti, meaning: cessation attainment), life force (Tibetan: སྲོག་, Sanskrit: jīvitendriya, Romanized Sanskrit: jīvitendriya, meaning: life faculty), similarity (Tibetan: མཚན་ཉིད་རྣམས་, Sanskrit: sabhāgatā, Romanized Sanskrit: sabhāgatā, meaning: characteristics), and aggregates of names, etc.' There are fourteen types, and the word 'also' indicates that there are others besides these. 'Attainment' refers to obtaining and association. 'Non-attainment' refers to obscured, unspecified dharmas; for those that have ceased and those that have not yet arisen, there are three types. For the desire realm and pure paths, the state of not having attained the path is different for each. 'Commonality' refers to beings being similar. 'Cessation of perception' refers to the cessation of consciousness and mental factors. Similarly, 'cessation of perception' refers to wanting to generate wholesome thoughts at the end of the fourth dhyana, thereby obtaining the result, but not being obtained by noble ones at the same time. 'Cessation' is the same, referring to abiding in the true meaning.
