There are three kinds of special distinctions. First, understanding that all the sufferings of the three realms arise from karma and afflictions, therefore, with the desire to be liberated from suffering and with attachment to reality, relying on the common entrance to the path—refuge and abstaining from misdeeds, thereby, in view, cultivating the selflessness of the person, in conduct, abandoning all actions that harm others, practicing shamatha and vipassana, ultimately, achieving the nirvana with remainder, which is liberation from the afflictions of the three realms. Although the practitioners of the Hearer Vehicle have obtained many merits and benefit sentient beings as much as possible, it is not necessary for all Hearer Arhats to possess these merits. For example, an Arhat who attains liberation solely through wisdom may not possess the five superknowledges, and some Arhats may only be proficient in a single verse of scripture. Although both Hearer and Solitary Realizer Arhats have abandoned the afflictions of the three realms along with their seeds, they have not abandoned the habitual tendencies and bad migrations, nor have they abandoned the obscurations to knowledge. Therefore, they have not completely and perfectly abandoned everything, nor have they fully realized the nature of reality as it is and as many as it is, therefore, they have not perfectly realized all the qualities of realization. Although they have immeasurable compassion for sentient beings, they do not have the superior intention to strive to liberate themselves from samsara, and they can only save a few close sentient beings, and cannot save the immeasurable sentient beings throughout the ten directions from samsara. Furthermore, the three pitakas of the Hearer Vehicle do not fully explain the unsurpassed path to enlightenment. As it is said in the Ratnavali: "In the Hearer Vehicle, the vows and practices of the Bodhisattva, and the dedication, are not taught, how can one become a Bodhisattva?" The Sutra Ornament also says: "Intention and teaching, as well as application and guidance, if they are contrary to the occasion, then they are inferior, that is inferior." Thus it is said. For the practitioners of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, the arising of clarity on the selflessness of apprehended phenomena, etc., is the realization of the path.

Apart from a slight difference in realization, the rest are the same as the Shravaka Vehicle. Regarding whether there are collections of scriptures that guide one's own tradition, there are various different statements. Saying there are none refers to the teachings of our own teacher; saying there are refers to the teachings in general. Second, explaining the path and fruit of the Paramita. Among them, the actual Paramita Vehicle is this Mahayana itself. The teacher Hero says in the "Praise of One Hundred and Fifty": "For those like rhinoceros horns (Pratyekabuddhas), there is not even the name of Paramita. The Bhagavan alone has reached the other shore, abiding in the totality of the six perfections." Therefore, it is said. However, it is understood that the Lesser Vehicles are also in accordance with the direction of the Paramita Vehicle, or are merely approximate branches. There are three aspects to this: explaining the collections of scriptures of the Paramita Vehicle, the way in which it is superior to the Lesser Vehicle, and explaining the actual path and fruit of the Paramita. The first point is: In general, the Buddha's teachings have twelve categories of scriptures, and these twelve categories are: In the "Essence of the Eight Thousand Stanza Commentary," it says: "Sutra, Verse, Prophecy are proclaimed, Gatha, Self-utterance, Nidana, Avadana, Jataka is extremely extensive, Marvelous Definitive Collection." Among them, the extremely extensive section is the Sutra section that is uncommon to the Mahayana, and the rest also have their respective Mahayana aspects, but most are common. The Sutra and other twelve categories of scriptures are only a small and approximate branch, while for the extremely extensive section, it is said to be limitless. Second, the way in which it is superior to the Lesser Vehicle is: As it is said in the "Ornament of the Sutras": "The object is of great scope, and likewise, the two obscurations are purified, wisdom, diligence, and initiation, skillful means are accomplished, true accomplishment is extremely great, the Buddha's activity is extremely great, because it possesses seven greatnesses, therefore it is definitely called the Great Vehicle." Because it possesses seven greatnesses, it is superior in terms of the path and fruit, and the extremely extensive collection of scriptures is also superior to the collection of scriptures of the Lesser Vehicle.
