To be liberated. Thus, contemplate the object of arising afflictions in one's own mindstream, and examine whether they arise strongly. If they arise, then strongly cultivate the antidote. Again, observe how self-cherishing exists. If it seems not to exist, then think of an object of attachment and aversion. If self-cherishing arises again, then immediately abandon it with the antidote of exchanging self and others. Do not complain, meaning do not proclaim to others the kindness they have shown you, and that your practice of Dharma is for your own benefit. Do not sell these complaints to others. Do not suppress the aspiration, meaning do not be jealous of others. Do not retaliate, etc., when others harm or belittle you, because your mind is disturbed. Do not show even a slight expression of joy or displeasure towards trivial matters. Do not desire great fame, meaning abandon the hope of gaining fame for practicing Dharma and doing good deeds. When the five degenerations are rampant, it is the time to transform the path to enlightenment into the path itself. This essential nectar instruction is transmitted from the master of Gold Island. It is also said that at this time, the words of the master of Gold Island are: All thoughts must be crushed, all antidotes must be struck down. All intentions must be unified, all actions must be decisive. The four dharmas of purifying antidotes are necessary for subduing the borderlands. To endure evil environments and evil deeds is necessary in the degenerate age. It is said that as soon as a thought arises, it should be crushed into emptiness. As soon as an affliction arises, it should be immediately suppressed with an antidote. All intentions should be unified in how to destroy self-grasping and how to benefit others. The path should be decisive, without calculating the grounds and paths. Enlightenment is attained by destroying self-grasping. Bad circumstances are virtuous friends, demons and obstacles are emanations of the victors, sickness is the firewood of sins, and suffering is the manifestation of Dharma nature. The four dharmas of all afflictions are the same as the above-mentioned borderlands, etc. If unpleasant circumstances occur, they will encourage virtue. If demonic influences occur, they will accumulate merit and increase vows. If sickness occurs, it will purify sins. The nature of suffering is emptiness. Because it is Dharma nature, it can be practiced. If all these occur, then it is good. Thus practice. This is a great pressure of happiness, it is a
