is established. The ultimate truth is also established as being just free from all elaborations. Those who hold other-emptiness assert that all phenomena included in dualistic appearances such as objects, non-objects, and grasping-and-appearance are conventional. The wisdom of self-awareness, which is the sphere of ultimate truth and emptiness, is established as the ultimate truth. Therefore, the ultimate truth is not established as merely being free from elaborations, but rather as the awareness that is devoid of the elaborations of grasping and appearance. That which is merely free from elaborations, like the sky, is considered to be inert emptiness and nihilistic emptiness. Therefore, the ultimate truth of those who hold self-emptiness is established as negation and non-existence. The ultimate truth of those who hold other-emptiness is a real entity, not newly created by causes and conditions. Since it is unchanging in all times, and is eternal, stable, and everlasting, it does not fall into the extreme of nihilism. Because it is free from all elaborations, it does not fall into the extreme of eternalism. It transcends the realm of expression by words, and because conceptual thought cannot ascertain "it is like this," it transcends the realm of speculation. It is considered to be the object of experience of the wisdom of individual self-awareness. Therefore, for all three natures, the dependent is the consciousness with illusory appearances, the imputed is the illusion that appears on it, and the thoroughly established is that this consciousness is empty of the illusion of grasping and appearance, and is not empty of the nature of self-awareness. Therefore, the imputed is completely non-existent except for being merely designated by terms and conventions, the dependent exists conventionally but does not exist ultimately, and the thoroughly established exists ultimately. The characteristic of the imputed is the lack of inherent existence, the arising of the dependent is the lack of inherent existence, and the thoroughly established is the lack of inherent existence because it is not the nature of grasping and appearance. Therefore, it is the ultimate lack of inherent existence. Therefore, according to the view of self-emptiness, since the phenomenon and its inherent existence do not exist, it is asserted that all phenomena are emptiness. However, it is not asserted that the conventional phenomenon is emptiness from its own side. For example, a pot is also considered to be the emptiness of the pot from the perspective of lacking inherent existence, but it is not asserted that the conventional pot itself is emptiness, because there would be faults such as the two truths becoming one. Those who hold other-emptiness assert that emptiness does not pervade the ultimate truth. The imputed is the emptiness of non-existence, the dependent is the emptiness of existence, and the thoroughly established is considered to be the emptiness of inherent nature. Therefore, the basis

Once established, it is considered to have the pervasion of being emptiness. Therefore, those who hold self-emptiness do not consider the pervasion of emptiness to be established if the basis is established. And they consider that emptiness, the ultimate truth, is one, and if it is self-emptiness, it is the realm of reality that is free from elaboration, possessing pervasion. Those who hold other-emptiness are the opposite of this, establishing the main part of ultimate emptiness from the aspect of wisdom. That ultimate realm of reality is beyond the path of reasoning, being free from one and many, etc. It is not the same as conventional phenomena, so reasoning does not cause harm. Because conventional unreal phenomena are non-existent in their essence, and objects are contained by time and direction, reasoning can enter. But non-dual wisdom is not contained by direction and time, so reasoning cannot enter. Because wisdom can be divided into many moments, and analyzing the beginning, middle, and end of that moment, etc., because wisdom is beyond time. Because it does not have any of the three times, its moments, etc., are impossible in the knowable. The root of reasoning is emptiness, and likewise, they do not consider the ultimate truth to be dependent origination. Therefore, for knowledge, there are consciousness and wisdom; for reasoning, there are self-awareness and other-awareness; for emptiness, there are self-emptiness and other-emptiness; for dharma, there are entities and suchness, etc. After distinguishing in detail, they consider all appearances to be mind, and they consider the form body to be included by those to be tamed and other appearances, not the Buddha. Not only do they consider the mind, free from elaboration, to be the cause of the Buddha, but also that the clarity of the mind is unceasing, and all the qualities of the Buddha abide inseparably. Therefore, in the mindstream of sentient beings, the qualities of the Buddha, adorned with the thirty-two marks and eighty minor marks, and complete with the sixty-two qualities, exist inseparably. Because they do not consider it to exist in the way of newly acquired manifestation, there is no fault of over-inferring that sentient beings themselves are Buddhas in general. The suchness of sentient beings is the Buddha, and they consider the unceasing clarity that is distinguished by freedom from elaboration. Here, it is also established by the sutras that speak of the uncontaminated mindstream. Both sentient beings and Buddhas are established on the mindstream. Form and consciousness are not aggregates, because in reality, the aggregation of form and consciousness and similar things are impossible. Therefore, for these and so on.
