Because the cause does not perish, it has the power to produce. For one thing, the ability to produce and destroy simultaneously is contradictory. One cannot destroy while producing, or produce while destroying. If destruction requires other factors to cause it, then, a thing that is not destroyed by its own nature cannot be destroyed by any other factor. Things do not exist by their own nature, but because the causes of production and existence have ceased, it is said that the phenomenon of destruction arises. Destruction itself has never existed. If it did exist, then it would be destroyed at the same time as it arises, and before it arises, so production would be impossible, and without production, how could destruction exist? If both exist, then all production and destruction are merely appearances, not reality. The Dharmakaya is reality, therefore it has no birth or death. Some people think that the meaning of no birth or death is emptiness, and that the Dharmakaya is emptiness. If it is determined that its nature is originally empty, and then it is thought that it truly experiences birth and death, this is unreasonable even for fools. In the respective levels of the ultimate truth and the conventional truth, analyzing and studying the characteristics of both is only applicable to things that have characteristics. The above is an intermediate discussion. The Dharmakaya is accomplished from the beginning, so there is nothing to be removed or established. Then, why would it be the reason for attaining the state of union? This is because the ultimate union is the Dharmakaya, and it does not have independently arising qualities of clarity, emptiness, and bliss. It itself is emptiness free from elaboration, unchanging bliss, and the Dharmakaya that possesses all aspects. Therefore, the original nature is not only established in emptiness, but bliss and all aspects are also the original nature. Because the nature has no duality, it is the nature of all dharmas. Therefore, it cannot be limited to the level of sentient beings alone. Therefore, the Dharmakaya, which has the nature of clarity, emptiness, and bliss, is also without birth and death, because it is original. There are no faults to be removed, because there is no destruction. There are no new qualities to be established, because there is no birth. The pervasiveness of these is established because removing what previously existed is destruction, and establishing what did not previously exist is the characteristic of birth.

Because the essence is free from arising and ceasing, the arising and ceasing of characteristics cannot intervene. And the appearance of arising and ceasing in conventionality is not a characteristic of the ultimate realm. Therefore, Dzogchen (union) abides in the manner of constantly pervading the nature of samsara, yet is not stained by samsara. Those in samsara do not see the Dharmakaya because of existence, but see the non-existent samsara. When Dzogchen ultimately manifests, one sees the Dharmakaya that has always been there, and does not see the samsara that has never been there. But samsara is not something that existed before and is later eliminated, because there is nothing to be eliminated from the beginning. The Dharmakaya is not something that did not exist before and is newly established, because it has been accomplished from the beginning. Therefore, in the self-appearance of the completely liberated mind: There is nothing here to be removed, there is nothing to be placed, look at reality as it is, seeing reality is liberation. It is like this. How does it appear to the noble ones? Children obscure reality, and everywhere appears unreal. Bodhisattvas eliminate it, and reality appears everywhere. Meaningless and meaningful, are called non-appearing and appearing. It is as it is said. Furthermore, any sentient beings whose minds are not liberated, those with the three aspects of body, speech, and mind of samsara, are seen by other samsaric beings because of the similarity of karma and habitual tendencies. When the mind is completely liberated, the three aspects of body, speech, and mind of samsara are seen as empty from the beginning and dissolve into the realm of reality, the body, speech, and mind of the Dharmata, abiding with radiant light that overwhelms all the worlds, but those in samsara do not see it. Therefore, in general, since the ultimate realm that has been accomplished from the beginning is seen by the noble ones, but not seen by ordinary beings, the particularly unique Dzogchen body, because it is without arising and ceasing, actually abides, but is not seen by children. Therefore, before the teacher's conduct of Dzogchen is accomplished, people see it, but this is only an appearance, and in reality, it is not a living being, because birth and abiding have not been accomplished. When Dzogchen is attained, although those people do not see it, it is not non-existent or dead, because there is no obstruction in reality, and it is the realm of wisdom.
