Commentary on the Scattered Dohas of Kanhapa, "Wonderful Radiance" Commentary on the Scattered Dohas of Kanhapa, "Wonderful Radiance" This is the treatise called Commentary on the Scattered Dohas of Kanhapa, "Wonderful Radiance." Homage to the Guru and the assembly of Vajra Dakinis! Having been clearly prophesied in the tantras, fame is equal to the limit of the sky, the conduct of asceticism is unsurpassed, and I will explain a small part of the meaning of the words of the Black One. Here, I will briefly explain the meaning of the scattered dohas of the great accomplished master, the practitioner. ༈ First, the song called "Ear of Pataha": The letter ཨེ་ཝཾ། (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Thus) is made firm, the two pillars are itself. Various forms pervade, and the bonds are released. Kanhapa plays and is intoxicated with honey wine, enters the lotus grove of co-emergence, and becomes mindless. Just as the elephant is attached to the female elephant, so too does its own cheek flow. All six realms are pure in nature, attachment to existence and non-existence is impure. The precious jewels of the ten powers radiate in all ten directions, the elephant of awareness seeks out afflictions itself. This is the meaning. Between every two lines, there is a Sanskrit letter called "dhruva," which is generally used as a marker for inserting verses in poetic forms, or as a marker for inserting syllables in song melodies, and here it is the former. Moreover, the previous word dhruva is mostly attached to the beginning of each subsequent word. The meaning of the words is: From the perspective of the language of secret meaning, the nature of mind is adorned as the form of an elephant, and the intoxication of the elephant is: destroying the pillar on which it relies, uprooting trees with its trunk, being intoxicated with wine, enjoying entering the lotus grove to eat, being attached to the female elephant, water flowing from its cheeks, having strength and running in all four directions, and so on. The king of mind is fashioned into such a form: The letter ཨེ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit: e, Literal Chinese meaning: e) fiercely blazes, the letter ཝཾ་(Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit: vaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: vam) melts the bindu, the unchanging letters of union, making the power of the body of wisdom firm, the pillars of day and night, the eighty kinds of self-nature discriminations are repeated twice, that is, destroying, knocking down, and making them disappear. That is the mind being completely secluded, and the body and senses pervading various forms.

are the bonds. The trees and shrubs of various subtle and coarse winds, from the time when the roots of previously generated conceptual thoughts were firmly established, by the force of recitation with the winds of body, speech, and mind, and by the power of the two teeth and the nose, these three, the roots are pulled out and made to be in a state of emptiness. This is called the wisdom of Vajra recitation, and this mind of Kanhapa, like an elephant, is intoxicated by the honey wine of the coming and going of Bodhicitta, and engages in various games of great desire, and although accompanied by the mud of afflictions, is not stained by afflictions, enters the garden of co-emergent lotuses, and eats the lotus roots of bliss without conceptual thought. This generally shows the behavior of great attachment. The words that emanate from that are, "As," etc., four lines: As it is, the great elephant of mind-bliss is attached to the emptiness of the female elephant, so it is, that is the suchness, the intoxicating water of bliss-emptiness union, will flow on the cheeks of self-awareness. This refers to the fact that as much as the wind-mind stops in the central channel, the more the bliss increases, the more profound the realization of the nature of emptiness, and therefore it will fall into the meaning of the state of union. As Nagarjuna said: External objects are all unreal, their nature is empty, consciousness also follows external objects, its nature is also like that. If someone generates distinctions about emptiness, that is also not emptiness, it is discarded by the wise. If one can understand that, the nature of all phenomena, that is without nature, it is called true wisdom. An illusionist in illusion, various plays, a skillful yogi, freely and playfully. The teacher Shakyamuni quoted the teaching of giving, the meaning of that suchness is not just emptiness, although the suchness of things does not exist, the suchness of great bliss uniquely appears in all forms, it is an illusory dancer. Therefore, all six realms of beings abide in the great bliss of self-nature purity, there is no obscuration to be removed in the essence, and there are no qualities to be established. Like this: In this there is no dharma to be abandoned or established, truly look at the true nature, that is liberation. So, what is impure? It is the distinctions of attachment to things and non-things.
