Naturally, one abides effortlessly. After that, thoughts arise one after another, appearing in this alternating way. The experiences of body and speech become more gentle and comfortable than before, beginning to enter the experience of habituation. It is like the behavior of an old person, or like a pond at the foot of a mountain or a frog jumping. The fourth is: Continuing to extend the time of meditation, thoughts will arise individually, or two or three in succession. Most of the time, the mind will abide calmly, relaxed, clearly, and brightly. The experience of the body is mostly comfortable. The breath is also mostly gentle and comfortable. Sometimes, the tactile sensation of the breath in the nostrils and sounds are so clear that the mind cannot abide, and one feels annoyed. Sometimes, thoughts seem to be flowing, but they cannot be identified, and one abides naturally. Sometimes, even if one lets go of thoughts, they do not leave. This is the experience of stability. It is like putting a turtle in a container, or a small lake being stirred by hail, or pouring water into an iron pipe. The fifth is: Continuing to strive in meditation, the experiences of body and speech are even more comfortable than before, and one does not even feel the existence of the body. One does not feel the flow of breath, and even if one feels it, one abides in equanimity without pleasure or pain, and the mind is not distracted. Some people know when they check, and do not know when they do not check. The mind burns like a flame in the state of stillness. The mind stays if one wants it to stay, and leaves if one wants it to leave. When needed, one can obtain autonomy at any time. Unless there are strong external factors such as loud sounds, or internal effort to awaken, one can sustain meditation session after session, and this is the experience of reaching the ultimate. It is like a king ruling his subjects, or like a great mountain, or like a calm and waveless ocean. In this way, through gaining wavering, habituation, and reaching the ultimate, this is how the path of meditation arises. Thus it is said. Furthermore, these five ways of arising experiences are, in order: the experience of identifying thoughts, the experience of relaxation, the experience of fatigue, the experience of having waves, and the experience of being without waves. Thus it is said. If the fifth experience abides on luminosity and the ten stabilities, and stability is obtained, then even strong disturbances will not cause the meditation to be interrupted, and the result will be able to be united with luminosity. Thus it is said. In these experiences, sometimes the mind is not clear, and one cannot find a clear and bright state, and this is the looseness of stillness, which is called the fault of being mixed with dullness.

Later, at some point, it became natural, and although there may be situations where non-conceptualization arises without error, for the time being, one must strive to refine knowledge and then abandon it. In between those, remembering past distractions of sensual pleasures is agitation; wanting to do later is craving for desire; even for minor faults, regret arises; and many doubts and hesitations arise about both Dharma and activities. Abiding in this, when wisdom becomes clear, any of those will repeatedly appear in the mind, thereby causing harm to the mind. Later, at some point, it became natural, and although there may be situations where it becomes an aid to clear samadhi, it is better to deliberately abandon it for the time being. Therefore, one must know that the objects of those are unreal like illusions, generate renunciation for agitation and craving, generate joy for regret, and make a firm decision for hesitation. These must be reversed and cultivated with greater effort to eliminate them. Those are needed as appropriate during the three solitudes and the stage of absorption. The three solitudes and the common parts have been explained. Now, the experiences of the stage of absorption will be explained, that is, the way the ten signs appear when the inner winds and mind stop: In terms of wisdom, when the earth element wind merges into the central channel, there will be a smoke-like appearance, that is, rolling, like a haze, like the smoke of a long incense stick swirling, like newly fallen rain clouds, like a thick fog. The colors are various, such as yellow, white, red, black, green, blue, and variegated, and there are also single colors, and there are also various combinations of two colors, three colors, four colors, and five colors. The size is also uncertain, and the state of stability, movement, and flow is also uncertain. The experience of speech is difficulty in exhaling, the experience of the body is feeling heavy, and from the heart and other places, it feels like being pressed or squeezed by others. The experience of the mind is drowsiness and sleepiness, and the experience of dreams is smoke, steam, dust, thick fog, etc., as well as being pressed underground, sleeping in earthen caves and holes, etc. When the water element wind merges into the central channel, there will be an appearance like a mirage, that is, shimmering, flowing like a river, like fine rain being blown by the wind. The color, size, and stability
