Union is the cause of old age. The pure conduct of a Dharma practitioner, Whatever they do should be in accordance with the Dharma. If one only cares about the eight worldly concerns, Speaking of benefiting beings is in vain. Without remembering the kindness of parents, How can one seek peace and happiness? Cunning people deceive with sweet words, The ignorant and mindless rush to them like water. Words that reveal faults, this is the second. In the endless river of time, The appearance of Buddhas is only about a hundred times. In countless rebirths, Obtaining a human body is only once. Other lives that have not obtained a human body, It is difficult to accept or reject the results of karma. How can there be the practice of the true Dharma? The true Dharma cannot even enter the ears, But they are skilled at pursuing food and enjoyment, What is the difference between them and animals? If one does not practice the true Dharma, One is spinning in the cycle of samsara. If one strives to tame one's own mind, One can be liberated from samsara. Now, at this time of meeting the Guru, I ask to say goodbye to samsara. Although one has obtained a human body, one can encounter the Dharma, Rely on the lotus feet of a qualified Guru. At this time of obtaining profound instructions, If one does not practice, one is deceiving oneself. Some are richer than countries, but are bound by stinginess, Although they have endless wealth and enjoyment, They are like starving to death next to a granary. Collecting many Dharmas, But not practicing even a little, It is like filling a warehouse with scriptures, But oneself still dies like an ordinary person, It is of no use when needed. With the impermanent nature of conditioned phenomena, The four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter change, Day and night revolve without stopping. The rising and setting of the sun, moon, and stars, Are teachers who constantly teach us. Seeing and hearing the death of others, Sudden illness, and aging, etc., The changes in countries and people, All are signals urging us to die. Regardless of old or young, strong or weak, The respected king, And the beloved friends and children, Beautiful appearance, healthy, talented, Powerful people with many attendants and armies, Even if they lie in endless enjoyment, When death comes, There is no way to help. The accumulated wealth and close friends, The food and pleasant words to live on, Everything will be involuntary.

The aftermath is left behind. When seized by the Lord of Death, Yama, Neither trickery nor means can avert it, What use are wealth and power? When will this aggregate of the four elements, The time of separation cannot be fixed, If you do not strive immediately in the sacred Dharma, You will surely regret it! Before youth has passed, Before disease has struck, while the senses are clear, Without the freedom to stay even for a moment, Haven't you seen people die in mid-sentence? In general, one will surely die and die quickly, Thinking that there is no time to know when one will die, Be sure to generate renunciation that is of no benefit, This is the crucial instruction for turning the mind to Dharma! The talk of the difficulty of obtaining a human body and its impermanence is the third. At this time when it is difficult to obtain and of great meaning, Regarding the unfailing law of karma, Be sure to adopt and abandon without error. This is advice for all, high and low. The practice of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, Will greatly increase the fruits of happiness and suffering. Even giving away a handful of barley, If the field (mind) and intention are completely pure, Then in countless rebirths in higher realms, The fruits of happiness will be inconceivable. Even for the sins accumulated in just one day, One will experience suffering in hell for countless years. Moreover, for hundreds and thousands of lifetimes as animals, And in the realm of pretas, one will not be liberated. Even if born as a human in China, there will be disabilities, Short life, and so on, endless suffering. Experiencing suffering from virtuous deeds, And happiness arising from non-virtuous deeds, Is impossible in any situation, Therefore, from the smallest things, be very careful. Do not exaggerate the talk of emptiness! If you yourself are not stained by sin, Even if all beings of the three realms become enemies, There is no opportunity to be led to the lower realms. Without being done by oneself, Beneficial virtue and harmful evil, Cannot be transferred as one wishes, And uncreated karma will not be encountered. Even if hundreds of thousands of billions of eons pass, If one has not practiced and familiarized oneself with the path, Old karma will not be exhausted, It is absolutely impossible for it to be exhausted meaninglessly. Thus, the growth is great and so is the fruit, Uncreated karma will not be encountered, created karma will not be wasted. Because it possesses four characteristics, it is very important to adopt and abandon virtuous and non-virtuous actions. From being bound by grasping one's own mind as self, The doors of the three poisons of affliction arise. The discursive thoughts of the three poisons run wild.
