One should think about how to benefit them. Similarly, since there is not a single sentient being who has not been our parent, all of them should be benefited in this way. Moreover, they are not just parents of one lifetime, but parents of countless lifetimes, so they must be made happy and comfortable. Now, they unwillingly experience various sufferings, and are entering the great root of suffering, these beings are truly pitiable. How can I do anything about all this suffering that my parents are experiencing? One should cultivate an unbearable feeling towards the suffering of sentient beings, doing whatever one can to alleviate it. Secondly, the main practice is: Alternately practice giving and taking. This should be done with the breath. As it is said. As before, cultivate loving-kindness and compassion. It is not enough to just say "compassion." One should think: I will take on their sins and sufferings, and I will give them my happiness and merit. As one inhales, all their sins and sufferings ripen upon me. As one exhales, one should think that all my happiness and merit is given to each and every sentient being. One should also cultivate joy in giving in this way, this is one round of visualization. Again, as before, as one inhales, all their sins and sufferings, like scraping leather with a leather scraper, come in a dark, dense form through the nostrils and dissolve into one's heart. As one exhales, all one's happiness and merit, in the form of a moon, goes out from the nostrils in a white light, touching all sentient beings, and one should visualize that they immediately attain Buddhahood. One should also cultivate joy in this. One should practice in this way with all exhalations and inhalations. Thirdly, the post-session practice: Three objects, three times, three roots of virtue, Purify all activities with words, The beginning of taking and giving starts from oneself. As it is said. Attachment arises towards pleasant and agreeable objects, hatred arises towards harmful and disagreeable objects, and in the intermediate state, a mind of ignorance arises that is unclear about anything. Therefore, whenever these thoughts arise, one should think: May all the afflictions and three poisons of all sentient beings gather into me, may they be free from afflictions, may I take the place of their afflictions.

Thinking in this way, may the three poisons be transformed into roots of virtue. At all times, may my sins ripen upon them, and may all my virtues ripen here. I offer all benefits and victories to the loving sentient beings, and I take upon myself all losses and defeats. Recite this repeatedly and keep it in mind. Before taking on the suffering of others, contemplate that all the suffering that one might experience in future lives will ripen in the present. 3) Transforming Adversity into the Path to Enlightenment Third, transforming adversity into the path to enlightenment. As it is said, "When the vessel and its contents are filled with sin, transform adverse conditions into the path to enlightenment." Therefore, when adversity strikes, it must be transformed into the path to enlightenment. This requires practice from now on. This is divided into three points: relying on relative Bodhicitta, relying on ultimate Bodhicitta, and relying on special practices. Relying on Relative Bodhicitta The first point is: "All blame lies with me, contemplate all as being kind." This means that when others harm you, your body suffers from illness, your mind feels pain, your village declines, your friends deceive you, or anything unpleasant happens, do not hold resentment in your heart, thinking that this is the harm caused by others, nor think about how to retaliate. Instead, reflect on yourself, thinking that this is due to the accumulation of negative karma caused by self-grasping, and that your own suffering is brought on by yourself. I must abandon this self-grasping and let it disappear completely. These harm-doers are benefactors who purify my obscurations, and I must contemplate this repeatedly with gratitude. Relying on Ultimate Bodhicitta The second point is: "View illusory appearances as the four Kayas, guarding emptiness is supreme." This means that, in general, for all appearances, and for any unfortunate event that occurs, one should think in this way: these appearances are not truly existent. No matter which aspect one examines, whether it is arising, abiding, or ceasing, one should recognize that its nature is free from all clinging. It is merely an appearance, and in reality, it is nothing at all, abiding in non-discrimination. This is also the emptiness Dharmakaya, the luminosity Sambhogakaya, the union Nirmanakaya, and the non-dual Svabhavikakaya. Relying on Special Practices The third point is: "The supreme method is possessing the four applications, immediately apply whatever arises to meditation."
