Therefore, here, it is important to diligently extract the essence from the support of leisure and endowment. As Gyalwa's son Shantideva said: 'This leisure is extremely difficult to obtain, and it is also difficult to achieve the purpose of life. If one does not accomplish benefit from this, how can one obtain this perfection again in the future?' Also, like: 'Relying on the boat of the human body, one can also be liberated from the river of suffering. This boat is difficult to obtain in the future, fools should not fall asleep at this time.' Just as one must cross the river when there is a boat, one must diligently practice the holy Dharma properly. As the Great Master of Oddiyana said: 'Now is the time when all the perfect conditions are met, strive to transcend samsara with fierce diligence.' Such a precious leisure body is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. As the great scholar said: 'Extremely rare like the Udumbara flower, obtaining it brings great benefits, surpassing the wish-fulfilling jewel.' As it is said, this body is extremely difficult to obtain, and obtaining it can bring great benefits. Do not waste it, but make it meaningful, so that you can go to the path of liberation. If you do not start now, and make sure that you can obtain it with both thought and action, then this body will also quickly perish. As the Extensive Play Sutra says: 'The three realms are impermanent like autumn clouds, the birth and death of beings is like watching a dance, the life of beings is like lightning in the sky, flowing quickly like a mountain stream.' In general, the external world, including Mount Meru, the four continents, the iron mountains, the great ocean, the sun and the moon, etc.; the internal beings, including Brahma, Ishvara, Vishnu, Maheshvara, etc., and all beings, their respective skandhas, dhatus, ayatanas, etc., in short, all conditioned dharmas are impermanent. In particular, the life of a person is short, passing away in an instant, and eventually dying, and it is impossible to determine when death will come. At the time of death, only the Dharma can bring benefits. After death, one will not disappear like a extinguished lamp, but only karma and its results will follow, and one must be reborn again and again in the realm of the three realms and six paths. No matter where one is born, from the peak of existence to the Avici hell, there is no place that is not bound by the three sufferings. As it is said: 'Samsara is like the tip of a needle, there is never happiness.' Maitreya Buddha also said: 'There is no fragrance in an unclean room, there is no happiness in the five realms.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The nature of suffering, the truth of suffering, is the characteristic of samsara (cyclic existence). Because the origin (of suffering) is the nature of samsara, wherever one is born within the three realms of samsara, one does not transcend the nature of suffering. In particular, the three lower realms are solely occupied with experiencing the causes and results of suffering. Fearing and dreading such states of the three lower realms, and with the mind desiring to be liberated from them, one establishes firm faith in the unerring nature of cause and effect, abiding in the correct worldly view, practicing the ten virtues, and meditating on the immeasurable states of mind, such as loving-kindness. This is the path of the lesser being. Humans, desire gods, and demi-gods experience pervasive suffering of conditioned existence, as well as various kinds of suffering of change. The peak of existence, the form realm, and the formless realms are accompanied by the suffering of conditioned existence, which is not readily apparent. As their karma that propels them (into those realms) is exhausted, they fall lower and lower, wandering endlessly in samsara. Therefore, with the mind desiring to liberate oneself alone from the three realms of existence, one cultivates the thought of renunciation, meditating on the four truths, the sixteen aspects of impermanence, and so forth, realizing the absence of self of the individual, which is the path of the Hearers (Shravakas). Meditating on the arising and ceasing of dependent origination, realizing half and two-thirds of the absence of self in both the individual and phenomena, is the self-enlightened one (Pratyekabuddha). This is the path of the intermediate being. Having established as a foundation the path shared with the lesser being—pure faith—and the path shared with the intermediate being—pure renunciation—one takes the mind of enlightenment (Bodhicitta), the path of the great being, as the life force of the path. Relying on the swift path, the unsurpassed secret mantra Vajrayana path, desiring to attain the state of union, Vajradhara, in one lifetime and one body, it is crucial to practice the ultimate blessing of the path, the Guru Yoga. Although there are countless traditions of Guru Yoga, both old and new, here I will briefly mention the Early Translation Nyingma school, which is distinguished by six great features. Within that, there are three lineages of transmission: the distant transmission of the Kama (oral lineage), the close transmission of the Terma (treasure teachings), and the profound Pure Vision. Here, the treasure teachings are distinguished by six or nine lineages, including prophetic authorization, aspiration, empowerment, and the transmission of words on yellow scrolls. Among the many upper and lower treasure troves, as it is said in the Tang Annals: 'This hidden treasure of Kharak Chupuk, the sign of its extraction without leaving anything behind has appeared; one named Orgyen Dechen Lingpa will arise.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
