It is worth contemplating that Padmasambhava praised, 'To be born in such a time is supremely auspicious.' Such Dharma teachings, before the rise of Padmasambhava's doctrine, were blessed to appear in every era, just as the power of aspiration prayers is fulfilled. Khenpo, Acharya, and the Three Dharma Kings, along with the Twenty-Five Disciples and other emanations of wisdom, appeared in succession. When the time was ripe, the opportunity of interdependent origination became like the beginning of a great festival, the essence of all wonders. Here, it especially refers to the terma (藏文:གཏེར་ཁ་,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:treasure) with clear catalogs and the countless terma without catalogs, symbolizing the hidden treasure trove of Samye Monastery, whose nature is inexhaustible and immeasurable. Related to this, countless revealers of these terma will also emerge, which is the manifestation of the power of aspiration prayers. However, here, mainly according to the prophecies in the Padma Kathang (པདྨ་བཀའ་ཐང་) and other texts, most of the one hundred great terma cycles are collected. Since all are infinite, it is impossible to collect them all. Secondly, due to the awakening of past aspiration prayers and great bodhicitta at the right time, considering that it would be a great pity if these profound Dharma teachings were to be lost, Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye conceived the idea of collecting them in one place. Immediately upon his new reincarnation, he effortlessly received the transmission of mind-to-mind blessing from the indivisible Dharmadhatu of Padmasambhava, and he was certain that he had obtained unique realization. First, Padmasambhava, then Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, whose face is inseparable from Padmasambhava, and the non-controversial terton Chokgyur Lingpa, after considering and clarifying their intentions, in the pure realm, the master and disciple met. This was the moment blessed by the Buddhas, and it was the right time to collect these teachings, a prophecy and instruction personally bestowed by Padmasambhava. Based on this, for the teachings that were rare to see or hear even a glimpse of the lineage and oral instructions in Tibet and the entire Tibetan region, through hundreds of efforts, he sought and collected the blessed old and new terma, especially those lineages that were extremely rare and close to disappearing, taking them as the foundation. He clarified the unclear parts, rearranged the disordered parts, supplemented the missing parts, and adorned them with the oral instructions of the lineage, and so on. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Neither should one casually abandon important practices, nor should one fall into confusion. Instead, combining reliable sources, maintaining the warmth of blessings, possessing the lineage of empowerment, transmission, and guidance, accumulating the profound and extensive Dharma teachings related to the three baskets of scriptures, gathering them in one place—such a wondrous and rare nature, just as predicted by the Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha and Padmasambhava, is the ornament of the unobstructed accomplishment of the Lord of the Five Great Treasures. Third, in this age that is even worse than the degenerate age, generally, the Buddha's teachings are declining, and especially these profound teachings of the rediscovered treasures, which are like wish-fulfilling jewels, are certainly disappearing into the expanse. In order to easily practice and achieve great results according to Padmasambhava's intention to protect the teachings with treasures, nowadays, due to the prevalence of the unbearable five degenerations, very few people see samsara as suffering and practice the teachings. Even those who do mostly lack the diligence and perseverance to accumulate vast amounts of merit and wisdom through the path of cause and effect, so in reality, there are very few opportunities to achieve accomplishment. Therefore, in order to manifest liberation through mere seeing, hearing, remembering, and touching, and through the gate of natural liberation without abandoning desirable qualities, these profound teachings that can definitely accomplish Buddhahood even in a short period of one's life, if practiced even for a moment, will manifestly bring great benefits. Therefore, it is certain that they will ripen the beings to be tamed in the degenerate age, and it is not permissible to let them lie dormant without purpose. At the same time, they have become the essence of the union of the minds of the three roots (Guru, Deva, Dakini,藏文:རྩ་གསུམ།,梵文天城体:त्रि-मूल,梵文罗马拟音:tri-mūla,汉语字面意思:三根本) residing in the state of union. For the sake of obtaining such necessary empowerments, and for the sake of merging with the profound and unique conditions that are free from other influences, they have made efforts to collect and organize them. In short, the necessity and reasons for this far exceed the three councils held in India. The fourth part is divided into the main topic and the extended meaning. First, regarding the person who compiled the Great Dharma Treasury, like the Udumbara flower that is difficult to find in the three times, they are omniscient beings equal to the great accomplished scholars of India, such as the Two Supreme Ones and the Six Ornaments. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
