The first is like a mirage, the second is like smoke, the third is like a meteor, the fourth is like a bright flame, and the fifth is constantly appearing, like a cloudless sky.' It is also recorded in Chakrasamvara-khechara, and in Guhyasamaja it says: 'The first is like a mirage, the second is like smoke, the third is like the form of a meteor, the fourth is like a flame burning, and the fifth is like a cloudless appearance.' In Āryadeva's Compendium of Practices: 'The first is like a mirage, and one sees it possessing a collection of five rays of light. The second is appearance, like the rays of the moon. The third is the spread of appearance, like the rays of the sun. The fourth is the attainment of appearance, like darkness. Then, in the moment of freedom from darkness, light appears, extremely bright, with the characteristic of constant appearance. The self-nature of ultimate truth is seen with the eye of wisdom.' Among them, it is said that the first is like a mirage, and one sees it possessing a collection of five rays of light, which is no different from what is said in Dzogchen that the lamp of the pure realm initially appears, appearing dark blue or like the color of peacock feathers. The other things that are said, such as the Rigpa Vajra Chain, the fish eye, the rotating halo, and so on, as well as various ways of appearing, and the appearance from the three-linked bindus to the twenty-five bindus, are called the appearance of the manifestation of Dharmata. That is, on top of what was said before, adding the five signs of daytime, the total adds up to ten signs. These ten signs are stated in the Condensed Power Sutra: 'Smoke, mirage, appearance of space, burning lamp, moon and sun, dark part and large bindu, various forms of clear light.' The various forms of clear light mentioned therein are the appearance of increasing experience, that is, the five lights are not mixed, like coarse cloth, stretching upwards, like many eyes, like brocade, like rainbow-like appearances, and so on. Then, the light pervades all appearances, and even without looking, one can see clearly. In the bindu, whether peaceful or wrathful Buddha images appear uncertainly in various forms, and after that is the appearance of Rigpa reaching its peak. In the Kalachakra Tantra: 'In the sky, the universally clinging consciousness and eyes do not close, completely entering the Vajra path, from emptiness, smoke, mirage, extremely clear, immaculate appearance of space, and lamp, burning and moon, sun, Vajra and supreme part and bindu can be seen.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
