Among these resides an inconceivable tradition of teachings, distinguished by the blessings of profoundness, vastness, sharpness, and swiftness. This is none other than the Dharma cycle brought forth by Guru Rinpoche, Chos kyi dbang phyug, from Gnam skas brag (Heavenly Ladder Rock). It possesses complete and comprehensive instructions on the tantra, sadhana, and practical application. Here, to accomplish the empowerment of life force (Srog dbang), the actions of the master precede. The actions of the disciple are twofold: preliminary and main practice. First, in the preliminary practice, to request the empowerment from the master, the glorious great one (dpal chen po), who is inseparable, offer a mandala. Say 'Offer the mandala,' and he offers the mandala. The supplication is as follows: 'Guru, glorious Heruka, supreme one with might and power! You who control the life force of the three realms, grant me the complete great empowerment!' Recite three times. To purify the continuum, recite: 'Guru, Buddha, and your retinue, please heed my supplication! Guru, the Three Jewels, until I attain enlightenment, I take you as the supreme refuge.' Confess the sins and obscurations accumulated from the past. For the benefit of beings and to attain Buddhahood, generate the aspiring Bodhicitta. To ripen all sentient beings, practice the great secret mantra conduct. Realize the ultimate, free from elaboration, Bodhicitta, and meditate on the self-arisen, boundless, empty-clear state.' Recite three times for daily confession. Inviting the Wisdom Being: Visualize the master as the Yidam deity. With devotion, light radiates from the master's heart center, dissolving into the disciple's crown, purifying the impure body, transforming it into a mass of blue light. From that, in the center of a great charnel ground, arise various lotuses and sun discs, upon which is a dark blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). From the Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) arises the glorious Lord of Wisdom (dpal ye shes kyi mgon po), the black eunuch (ma ning nag po), with a dark blue-black complexion. From 'dark blue-black complexion' to 'sitting on a corpse seat with the left leg extended,' visualize the arising of the protector. Bless the three places. From the Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) at the heart center, light radiates, and from places like Copper-Colored Mountain (rnga yab gling), Malaya, Cool Grove (bsil ba tshal), and the great charnel ground of Oddiyana (u tsha la'i), the glorious Lord of Wisdom and his retinue come like a torrential downpour, dissolving into the disciple. Recite the mantra, adding 'Ābeśaya Ā Ā (ཨཱ་བེ་ཤ་ཡ་ཨ་ཨཱ)' at the end, combined with the sound of musical instruments, and burn incense. As the deity arrives, say 'Tiṣṭha Vajra (ཏིཥྛ་བཛྲ་),' making it firm. Then, for the purpose of the second main part, recite: 'Guru, Secret Lord Vajradhara, all the victorious protectors, grant me the empowerment, the empowerment of the wheel of deities.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please grant the empowerments in order. Thus, pray three times. Empowerment is divided into two types: common and specific. First, the common empowerment: When the vase is placed on the crown of the head, white, red, and blue rays of light emanate from the deity's form within the vase, filling the disciple's body, purifying all the sins and obscurations of body, speech, and mind. Visualize that the blessings and power of the deity's body, speech, and mind enter your being. Place the vase, along with the main deity's form, on the crown of the head, and recite: Hum! In the excellent palace of the vase, the glorious Protector Maning and the assembly of deities reside. Bestowing empowerment upon the fortunate disciple, may the three doors of body, speech, and mind be matured, and may the spontaneous accomplishment of body, speech, and mind be achieved. After the glorious nine and the Protector's mantra, recite: Abhisheka Om! Abhisheka Ah! Abhisheka Hum! Abhisheka Svaha! Abhisheka Hah! Perform the empowerment in five places and pour the vase water. Having been empowered in this way, all the impurities of your body, speech, and mind are purified, and you become inseparable from the Protector's body, speech, and mind. Second, the specific empowerment, which is divided into nine types: body, speech, mind, qualities, activities, union and liberation, blessings, generation, and introduction. First, the body empowerment: Visualize that light radiates from the guru's heart, stimulating the mind-stream of each Protector in turn. Many Protectors riding tigers emerge from the mandala of the deity and dissolve into the disciple's crown. Place the body Protector on the crown and bestow the black cloak, reciting: Hum! The body empowerment of the glorious Protector Maning, may it be granted to this fortunate one. After the great supreme and the main mantra, recite: Om Shri Mahakala Rupa Triyam Hum Dza! Abhisheka Om! Speech empowerment: Similarly, visualize that many speech Protectors emerge from the mandala of the deity and dissolve into the throat. Place the form of Beng(藏文:བེང་,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:beng,汉语字面意思:Beng) and the life-essence of the ritual text on the throat, reciting: Hum! The speech empowerment of the glorious Protector Maning, may it be granted to this fortunate one. As before, after the two mantras, recite: Om Shri Mahakala Raksha Du Beng Ni Dza! Abhisheka Ah! Pour the nectar. Mind empowerment: Visualize that many mind Protectors emerge from the mandala of the deity and dissolve into the heart. Place the form of the hooked knife and the heart mantra marked with a vajra hooked knife Hum on the heart, reciting: Hum! The mind empowerment of the glorious Protector Maning, may it be granted to this fortunate one. After the two mantras, recite: Om Shri Mahakala Kshetra Hana Hum! Abhisheka Hum! Empowerment of qualities: Visualize that many Protectors riding lions emerge from the mandala of the deity and dissolve into the navel. Place the Protector riding a lion on the navel, and hand over to the right hand an arrow adorned with black silk and a wrathful face, inscribed with 'Lam Hum', reciting: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
