Thus it is spoken in the heart of awakening. Moreover, all sentient beings possess the essence of the Sugata (Buddha) (Sanskrit: Tathāgatagarbha, Romanized Sanskrit: Tathāgatagarbha, Literal meaning: Womb of the Thus-Gone), like a precious jewel hidden within ragged clothing. When the mind is free from sudden defilements, it abides clearly and without conceptualization. Clarity is the characteristic of the mind, and when examined, it is free from grasping at objects and subjects; emptiness is the nature of the mind. The inseparability of these two is the essence of the un fabricated mind, which is the intention of all the Victorious Ones. This is the arising of awareness-wisdom within oneself. Therefore, the lamp is shown as a symbol of the mind, being clear and without conceptualization. As it is said in the great treatise 'Meaning Clear' of the Pacifier: 'The nature of space, like a lamp, like a mirror, is symbolized by examples that are not real. In reality, it is the mind; there is no 'this' or 'that' in it.' Thus, the naked wisdom is established through symbols. All movements of the mind are recognized as the wisdom of the Victorious Ones, the union of awareness and emptiness. In all circumstances, such as this life and the bardo, rely on the great instruction of self-arising and self-liberation on the ground of wisdom. Such as: 'That which symbolizes is the wisdom of example, self-aware wisdom, free from conceptualization and without error. Like a reflection in a mirror looking at a face, it is not the wisdom of meaning, but it is similar to the meaning.' Thus, the meaning is recognized through examples. For example, it is not like someone saying, 'There is a tiger in the deep forest, it looks like this,' which is like the idle talk of the ignorant. Because it can be shown directly right now, it is far superior to others. This is the recognition of the three: example, meaning, and sign, which is a special characteristic of Dzogchen. Allow the face to appear in the mirror, seed syllable: Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) All Buddhas of the three times, the goddesses of inexhaustible adornment qualities, By the power of qualities, the mirror reflects images and blesses, the qualities are spontaneously accomplished and recognized.' Thus, in the great source of all the qualities of the Buddhas, although there is no conceptual thought of fulfilling the hopes of those to be tamed, etc., by the power of the qualities of the nature of Buddhahood, the needs and desires of beings arise as desired. For example, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, a virtuous vase, a wish-fulfilling tree, and wish-fulfilling cows, although there is no thought of fulfilling the wishes of sentient beings, by the power of the qualities of their nature, the needs and desires of beings arise as desired. Also, like the sun, although there is no thought of dispelling darkness, by the power of its qualities, its light dispels darkness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as destroying pride, and like the great drum of the gods, although without conceptualization, produces the sound of teaching the four seals of Dharma through the power of its qualities, so too, the Buddhas, although free from conceptualization, through the power of their qualities, appear in the perception of those to be tamed, appearing in whatever way tames them, accomplishing their benefit. Like the reflection of individual forms in a mirror, or the moon appearing in individual water vessels, they work for the benefit of beings until the end of samsara. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Like the image of the moon in water and sky.' Such power of qualities is described in the Excellent Conduct Vow: 'The power of conduct of all virtues, the power of universal loving-kindness, the power of merit of all goodness, and the power of wisdom without attachment.' And so on, endlessly. In the perception of limitless beings, they appear as the six Thupas and other emanations, such as lions, tigers, elephants, excellent herds, and boats, according to their inclinations. Because the thoughts of those to be tamed are limitless, they appear as peaceful and wrathful beings, obstacles, demons, beings, mountains, and the earth. As stated in the Buddha Samyoga Sutra: 'Sometimes peaceful, sometimes wrathful, sometimes a great obstacle, making demons, beings, mountains, all of them.' Such appearances are like reflections in a mirror, or like the reflection of Indra (lha dbang, *devendra*, lord of gods) appearing on a ground of lapis lazuli in a victorious mansion. As stated in the Uttaratantra: 'Just as on a pure ground of lapis lazuli, the reflection of the body of the lord of gods appears, so too, on the pure ground of the minds of beings, the reflection of the body of the lord of the Thupas appears.' Just as a mirror free from dirt naturally has the quality of being able to reflect images, so too, for those who have gone to bliss and have cut off the stream of delusion, the benefit of sentient beings arises effortlessly and spontaneously, and all qualities are recognized as being spontaneously accomplished. Waving the wind banner, recite: 'HUM! Of all the Buddhas of the three times, the inexhaustible wheel of adornment of activity, the power of wrath is transmitted by the wind, the accomplishment of activity is given recognition.' Therefore, the activity of those who have gone to bliss is unobstructed like the power of the wind. Moreover, 'That which is called wind accomplishes all actions.' Just as the vessel world is supported by the wind, so too, sentient beings depend on the wind, and as long as they are not separated from the wind... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
