Draw an eight-petaled lotus or mandala, complete with three levels of entrance steps, as per the visualization. On top of the four lotus petals or clusters, arrange vases filled with offerings, adorned with neck ornaments, and topped with conch shells, complete with tethers and vajras. In the center of the eight-petaled lotus mandala, pile various grains or ground raw barley flour, mixed with powdered jewels. Arrange the torma (offerings) according to the practice, without making it into Mount Meru, and finally display various offerings such as gold, silver, silk, weapons, tea, cloth, tiger skin, leopard skin, etc. Prepare tormas and various offerings for the lama, yidam (tutelary deity), local deities, etc., according to your ability. Then, the master takes a bath and puts on new clothes. Sit on a comfortable seat, first offering the preliminary torma, blessing the offerings, until the generation stage and recitation of Vajrapani are completed. Generate Vajrapani in the vase, bless his body, speech, and mind, invite the wisdom being to descend, perform the initiation, and seal with the family lord, offering praises and adorations. Visualize that from the hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ,hūṃ,हुं,Destruction) syllable in your heart, rays of mantra light emanate, entwining around the tether, stimulating the mind-stream of the deity in the vase, and a stream of nectar descends from the deity's body, filling the vase with wisdom nectar. Recite the mantra, visualizing the deity dissolving into the nectar. Then, purify the torma and mandala with amṛta (ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏ,amṛta,अमृत,immortal),and purify them with emptiness (སྭ་བྷཱ་བ,svabhāva,स्वभाव,self-nature). From emptiness, on top of a palace with multi-storied buildings, generate the lama above, Vajrapani in the middle, the Four Great Kings below, the Eight Horse-Headed Deities in the corner buildings, and the Eight Classes of Gods and Demons and countless Yaksha hosts in the surrounding areas, according to the torma ritual. Perform the invocation, summoning, abiding, sealing, offering, and praising, until the torma is offered. Recite the mantras of the main deity and retinue as much as possible. Then, the disciple prays: Just as Changchub Dorje (བྱང་ཆུབ་རྡོ་རྗེ,Byang chub rdo rje) made offerings and prayers to the Buddha in the past, in order to bless me, I pray that the main deity Vajrapani and his retinue will bless me now. Recite this three times, preceded by offering a mandala. Then, the master places the vase on the disciple's head, reciting: Arising from the vows of body, speech, and mind, the pure and stainless wisdom vow, with the pure water of the gods, I fully bestow the initiation upon you. oṃ vajrapāṇi abhiṣiñcatu māṃ (ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་པཱ་ཎི་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ་ཏུ་མཱཾ,oṃ vajrapāṇi abhiṣiñcatu māṃ,ओँ वज्रपाणि अभिषिञ्चतु माम्,Om Vajrapani, please initiate me). Merge the water of the vase, which is the essence of the deity, into the disciple's body. Then, bestow the crown initiation praised by all the Buddhas: oṃ ratna mukuṭa abhiṣiñca trāṃ (ཨོཾ་རཏྣ་མུ་ཀུ་ཊ་ཨ་བྷི་ཥིཉྩ་ཏྲཱཾ,oṃ ratna mukuṭa abhiṣiñca trāṃ,ओँ रत्न मुकुट अभिषिञ्च त्राम्,Om Jewel Crown, please initiate). Place the crown. Visualize both the master and disciple transforming into Vajrapani, with a moon at the heart. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hūṃ, contemplate! From the heart of the Lama, the mantra emerges from his mouth and enters the mouth of the disciple. Visualize the mantra revolving three times around the Hūṃ at the heart center, then repeat it three times. 'Lord of mantra, please grant it to me! Lord of mantra, please bless me!' The master says, 'Grant it to this one! Bless this one!' After saying this, scatter flowers. Then offer the mandala: 'Just as Bodhicitta Vajra (Byang chub rdo rje) offered great offerings to the Buddha (sangs rgyas), in order to protect me, please grant me all desired attainments!' Say this. Then place the great Torma on the head, and visualize the Great King (rgyal chen) and his retinue, like one lamp spreading to hundreds of thousands, immeasurable, dissolving into the disciple's body, while reciting the mantras, burning black and white incense, and playing music. 'From this day forward, you should take Vajrapani (phyag na rdo rje) and the Great King (rgyal po chen po) Vaishravana (rnam thos sras) and his retinue as the main Yidam and Dharma protector, and practice through visualization and recitation.' Say this. Then hand over the victory banner, or visualize handing it over: 'This precious victory banner, adorned with a jewel crest, is the victory banner that triumphs over the enemies of demons. It is given to you to protect and spread the teachings. Hold it to triumph over adverse forces!' 'This precious mongoose, the source of endless treasures, is a treasure like a wish-fulfilling jewel. It is given to you, the fortunate one, to eliminate the suffering of poverty for all beings. Please hold and use it!' Give the post-initiation of the hand implements. 'From this day forward, be diligent in offering Torma at all times, and be diligent in keeping the vows as explained before!' Say this. The post-initiation is complete. Homage to Master Padmasambhava (slob dpon pad+ma 'byung gnas)! When the son of King Trisong Detsen (khri srong lde'u btsan), Mutik Tsenpo (mu tig btsan po), reached the age of twenty-five, he was appointed as a general to the northern region. Ugyen Padmasambhava (o rgyan pad+ma 'byung gnas), Bodhisattva (bo d+hi sa twa), Vimalamitra (bi ma la mi tra), Kamalashila (ka ma la shA la), the eight heart-sons of Guru, and one hundred and fifty Lamas were invited to the central room of the Samye Temple (bsam yas). A grand Tsog offering was held. At the entrance of the temple in the central room, a grand Torma offering was arranged, and Mutik Tsenpo prayed to his father and the Lamas, saying, 'I am being sent to the northern region of Ging Shing, and to Khri Dan Gya (khri dan rgya) and all other places as a general...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
