Praise to Manjushri. The practice, in accordance with the generation stage, is complete. The history of this lineage: Jetari (The Victorious One) directly heard the Dharma from Manjushri and attained accomplishment. Once, Manjushri appeared and prophesied: 'You are now one hundred and ten years old. In ten more years, this body will not be able to sustain itself. Seek a worthy disciple and transmit my Dharma to him, passing it down through a single lineage.' Thereupon, Jetari (The Victorious One) flew through the sky with miraculous powers, searching everywhere for a worthy disciple, but found none. Later, he saw in the land of Magadha an old and frail cowherd, living in poverty. Seeing him as a worthy vessel, he approached him and said: 'You seem to have the capacity for Dharma. Give up your current work and enter the Buddhist path.' The man replied: 'I am old and frail, with no means of support, and I am illiterate. I can only pray for your guidance in the next life.' The master said there was a way, and bestowed upon him this practice. After practicing for five days [some histories say seven days], he became a Pandita (Scholar) who understood all the Dharma spontaneously, and was known as Pandita Mati (Wise Scholar). Then, the master initiated him into the mandala of peaceful and wrathful Manjushri, and gave him the secret name 'Sgegpai Dorje' (Alluring Vajra). Because he was born in Norbu Ling (Jewel Island), he was known as Norbu Lingpa (The One from Jewel Island). Afterwards, he prostrated to the master and said: 'Master, you have taken me in and made me wise, but I am old and have no time to teach, only to practice.' The master said: 'You have ten years of life remaining, and I have received a prophecy from my Yidam (Personal Deity) that two of those ten years have already passed. Now there are eight years left, which I will give to you, so that you may benefit beings for eighteen years. After that, pray to your Yidam (Personal Deity), and your life may become as long as the sun and moon.' Then, the master departed to the realm of the Dakinis (Sky Dancers). Afterwards, Sgegpai Dorje (Alluring Vajra) taught the Dharma to the young Norbu Lingpa (The One from Jewel Island), who in turn taught it to Jungne Bepa, who then gave it to the great Pandita Shakya Shri. Shakya Shri was invited to Tibet by Khro Phu Lotsawa, and while residing in Sinpo Ri in U-Tsang, the Tibetans, not understanding the wisdom of India, Khro Phu Lotsawa asked the Lama (Guru) for a special instruction to increase wisdom. The Pandita (Scholar) said: 'I have instructions as vast as the ocean, among which there are four particularly special ones: relying on White Chakrasamvara (Demchog Karpo) to attain enlightenment, and White Manjushri (Jam dpal Karpo).' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Relying on it, wisdom increases; relying on the one true fire (Tibetan: ཡང་དག་མེ་གཅིག་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization:, Chinese literal meaning:), with a single topknot (Tibetan: ཐོད་གཅིག་), one can overcome demons; relying on Black Jambhala (Tibetan: ཛཾ་བྷ་ལ་ནག་པོ་), one can achieve wealth. Among these four, White Manjushri (Tibetan: འཇམ་དཔལ་དཀར་པོ་) is for increasing wisdom.' Having said this, he bestowed all of these. If you want to request the empowerment of Chakrasamvara (Tibetan: བདེ་མཆོག་) and Jambhala (Tibetan: ཛཾ་བྷ་ལ་), you can go to Nepal, and I will do it.' Thereupon, Khrophu Lotsawa (Tibetan: ཁྲོ་ཕུ་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་) requested him to send him to Nepal. Khrophu Lotsawa repeatedly requested, but he replied, 'I am not free,' and did not agree. Khrophu Lotsawa repeatedly requested, and he finally said, 'If you are so sincere, then I will give it to you.' Thus, he agreed. The Pandit (Tibetan: པཎྜི་ཏ་) said that this is the key to curing head ailments. Khrophu Lotsawa requested Khenpo Wangchuk Sengge (Tibetan: མཁན་པོ་དབང་ཕྱུག་སེང་གེ), who then transmitted it to Gyaton Ananda (Tibetan: རྒྱ་སྟོན་ཨ་ནནྡ་), and finally to me. To perform this subsequent permission, a small mandala should be drawn, with the 'Namasangiti' (Tibetan: མཚན་བརྗོད་) and an image of Manjushri placed in the center, surrounded by offerings. Prepare a white torma. Then, the master, from the generation stage (Tibetan: མངོན་རྟོགས་), visualizes himself as Manjushri, recites, makes offerings, praises, and performs the seven-branch offering. Bless the torma three or seven times with the following mantra: 'Om Ah Ka Ro Mu Kham Sarva Dharma Nam Adya Nut Pannat Vat Om Ah Hum Phet Svaha (Tibetan: ཨ་ཀཱ་རོ་མུ་ཁཾ་སརྦ་དྷརྨཱ་ཎཱཾ་ཨཱདྱ་ནུཏྤནྣ་ཏྭཱཏ་ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: om āḥ kāro mukhaṃ sarva dharmāṇām ādyanutpannatvāt oṃ āḥ hūṃ phaṭ svāhā, Chinese literal meaning: All dharmas are unproduced from the beginning, emptiness is the mouth. Om Ah Hum Phet Svaha)'. Recite: 'Om Namah Sarva Tathagata Manjushri Balimta Kha Kha Khahi Khahi (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ན་མཿསརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་མཉྫུ་ཤྲཱི་བ་ལིཾ་ཏ་ཁ་ཁ་ཁཱ་ཧི་ཁཱ་ཧི།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ namaḥ sarva tathāgata mañjuśrī baliṃta kha kha khāhi khāhi, Chinese literal meaning: Homage to all Tathagatas, Manjushri eats the offering, eat eat eat hey eat hey)', visualize enjoying the torma with a vajra tongue tube, and make offerings and praises. Then, the disciples offer the mandala and recite the three lines of prayer, 'All Buddhas of the three times, etc.' Recite 'I take refuge in the Three Jewels,' etc., and perform daily confession. Then, through any special prayer, begin to perform the seven-branch offering. After that, grant the subsequent permission: the permission of the body is the blessing of the body, the permission of speech is the blessing of speech, the permission of mind is the blessing of the mind, and the permission of qualities and activities is the blessing of both body and mind. First, for the sake of the permission of the body, recite the prayer: 'Whenever I want to behold, or ask a question, may I see the protector Manjushri without hindrance.' After reciting three times, place the image of Manjushri on the crown of the disciple's head, and recite: 'Visualize yourself as Manjushri, and a Manjushri appears from the crown of your head and merges into your body.' Recite: 'The body of all Buddhas is the greatest, it is the body of all Buddhas, blessed by the body of the Buddhas, Manjushri...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
