Wrathful Black Yama (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་ནག་པོ་, meaning: Lord of Death) with a terrifying face like an enraged buffalo; his right hand raises a skull staff towards the sky, while his left hand holds a black rope in a binding gesture; a red lingam (Sanskrit Devanagari: लिङ्ग, Sanskrit Romanization: liṅga, Chinese literal meaning: symbol of Shiva's male reproductive organ) stands erect, he stands in a fighting stance upon an enraged buffalo; his appearance is extremely frightening and fierce. To his left is the consort (Tibetan: སྦྱོར་ཡུམ་), Chamundi (Sanskrit Devanagari: चामुण्डा, Sanskrit Romanization: Cāmuṇḍā, Chamunda, a Hindu goddess) with the face of a female buffalo; her right hand raises an iron hook, while her left hand crosses holding a rope. To his right is the Rakshasa (Sanskrit Devanagari: राक्षस, Sanskrit Romanization: rākṣasa, Chinese literal meaning: demon) who controls lifespan, with a pig's head, holding a Dharma wheel and a wooden staff; to his left is the life-controller with a snake's head, full of anger, holding a snake lasso and a disease bag. Around him are twelve lords of death who control the years, as well as the chief of the ten directions of demons and the ten directional guardians. Furthermore, all around are surrounded by the Eight Classes of beings (Sanskrit Devanagari: अष्टवर्ग, Sanskrit Romanization: Aṣṭavarga, Chinese literal meaning: Eight Groups) and all the vicious spirits wandering in the three realms, as clear as if seen with one's own eyes. The second step is the invocation: Visualize yourself as the deity, from your heart emanates a hook-like ray of light, from the realm of karmic Yama in the nine levels of the underworld, from the city of iron skulls, instantly invoke the great Lord of Death and his retinue, merging into the offerings in front of you. Accompanied by abundant offerings of flesh and blood, the sound of thighbone horns and intense music, wave the black banner, and recite the following invocation: Hūṃ! Beneath the southern sun, is the realm of Yama in the nine levels of the underworld, from the city of iron skulls, the wrathful Manjushri (Sanskrit Devanagari: मञ्जुश्री, Sanskrit Romanization: Mañjuśrī, Chinese literal meaning: Wondrous Auspiciousness) subduer, the Dharma King arises from emptiness, together with the army of the Lord of Death Yama, and the retinue of arrogant Eight Classes, quickly descend to this place! Yama rāja sa parivāra vajra samaya dza dza! The third step is the request to abide: Hūṃ! In order to subdue all enemies and obstacles, in this fierce charnel ground, the Yama King and his retinue, in order to accomplish activities, please abide here! Dza hūṃ baṃ ho! Samaya tiṣṭha lhān! The fourth step is the oath: Hūṃ!
