The arrangement of the statues: the deities belonging to the vase family should be placed from the vase downwards; those of the lotus family should be placed on the lotus throne. The painted images should be drawn on the back as appropriate. It is said that not placing the life-tree or arranging them in the wrong order will generate unpleasant karmic results, so those with discernment should contemplate with intelligent minds. Third, the faults of not consecrating: A deity that has not been consecrated is like a corpse and is not worthy of offering. Even if offered, it will not produce the fruit of merit, and it is said that the place where it is placed will also generate inauspiciousness. This is also mentioned in previous stories. In the tantra it says: 'Wherever a fully complete statue resides for a long time without being blessed, inauspiciousness will occur there. Until then, it is not appropriate to make offerings to it.' etc. Also, the rituals must be performed according to what is said in the tantras and commentaries, otherwise even inferior rituals will generate faults. One should not perform inferior rituals, consecration is always inauspicious. In this world there is suffering, and in the next world there is great fear.' Fourth, the benefits of consecration: In general, averting the aforementioned faults is also a benefit. In particular, the merit of consecrating with a complete ritual, and offering and honoring the consecrated object, is that it is always protected and blessed by the Buddhas and their retinue. In this life, one will obtain all the glory of perfect abundance, and in the next life, one will undoubtedly touch the supreme bliss of unsurpassed enlightenment. Therefore, with all effort, one should strive diligently to achieve accomplishment. The ritual itself has power, and actions arising from investigation are the best. The merit of doing so is great, and it increases in both visible and invisible realms. The statue has the characteristics of mantra, and therefore it will be blessed. Fifth, the teacher who performs the consecration: Must be proficient in all the trainings of the three vehicles, and in particular, must be fully matured in the great mandala of Vajrayana, abiding in common and uncommon vows. One who has tamed their mind with the supreme wisdom of the union of emptiness and compassion, and is capable of all the various activities of the ten types of masters. One who is skilled and knowledgeable in the consecration ritual through the lineage of sight. The teacher must know the ten realities, be fully endowed with all the characteristics, know the mudras, mantras, and rituals, and be skilled in all activities.' The scriptures say. The ten external realities are: mandala, samadhi, mudra, posture, stance... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
