Then, through visualization, invite and represent offering by smearing (holy substances). After that, recite the root mantra of whichever deity, and in an instant, transform yourself into the body of that deity. After meditating, recite the vowels, consonants, and the firm mantra. After writing in this way, offer fine robes, and once again perform consecration, offerings, praise, and requests. Constantly maintain the awareness of the actual presence of the Yidam. If it is a sculpted statue, mix the supreme substances of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and wrathful activities, and carefully write the mantras on paper and place them inside. For other items, measure with wisdom and place the inner supports. During the practice, construct a mandala, and in the center, place three tiers of thrones, arranging (the items) on the upper throne. Then, on the lower throne, place a skull cup with the proper characteristics, filled with excellent samaya substances and amrita. If there are relics of the Lama, Yab-Yum, and Tilopa, as well as medicinal substances, mix them with chang (barley beer) and soak them well. Cover with silk of the deity's color or five colors, writing their respective heart mantras. Then, in a bhumpa (ritual vase) with definite characteristics, mix special samaya substances and essence substances. Make pills the size of mustard seeds, equal to the number of deities. Also, whatever blessed supports are available, such as the hair and body substances of the root Lama, relics and ringsel (pearl-like relics), dakinis, secret mantra deities, torma (ritual cake) and zhen (sacrificial food) from long practices, and various kinds of highly blessed substances from the Three Roots, such as life stones, life wheels, general and personal (amulets), place them all inside. Cover with a mirror and draw the hand implements on it. In the center, place a new peacock-colored agate stone, and substances that increase light and magnetizing power. Then, as convenient, in a fine ratna (jewel) vase, place (relics) of extremely pure young men and women, with snow mountain water, brown sugar, ghee, and samaya substances, as well as pills equal to the number of your own deities, jewels, medicinal herbs, fragrances, and essences, etc. According to the occasion of the five aggregates, fill with appropriate samaya substances. Make neck garlands and fine ornaments of five-colored silk, as well as tying ropes, etc. Generally, decorate these according to your own tradition, placing them where convenient. It is very important not to mix up the upper and lower (levels). Place amrita on the right, red wine on the left, a large torma in front, and various kinds of offering substances around, arranging them completely, warmly, and beautifully. Above, raise a silk umbrella and a fine banner. Hang banners, victory banners, arrows and colored arrows in the four directions, as well as four knives and mirrors each, and also phurbas (ritual daggers), colored threads, nets, silk tiger skins, and leopard skins. Draw offering goddesses inside the enclosure. Surround and decorate with curtains, etc., and display various offerings and objects for viewing. Display various supports of body, speech, and mind, as well as indispensable bells, silks, skull drums, male and female thighbone trumpets, thighbone flutes, vajras, bells, large meat, various incenses, ghee lamps mixed with large oils, and various musical instruments, as well as (items) corresponding to pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, wrathful, and powerful activities.
