Although the nature remains constant, due to the co-emergent and imputed ignorance, and the interdependence of cause and effect, the five poisons in one's own continuum are stirred up, thus manifesting the magical displays of the Mamos (mother goddesses). The elements of the outer world decline, and the minds of sentient beings are agitated. Epidemics gather like clouds among humans and livestock, leading to crop failure, frost, hail, and strife. All of these arise from the imbalance of the elements of the outer world, and from actions that violate vows and are inherently evil. Due to careless and unrestrained behavior, one becomes defiled by broken vows and impure substances. Evil deeds should be purified through repentance. If vows are broken, they should be restored through tsok (gathering). Defilements and negative influences should be purified through the power of amrita (nectar), and transgressions against the minds of the Buddhas should be confessed in the dharmadhatu (realm of reality). Samsara and nirvana are originally the nature of the five amritas, unadulterated and uncorrupted, abiding as they are. Offerings are made with the essence of the five wisdoms, perfectly pure, and with the essence of great equality. From the rays of amrita, clouds of desirable objects arise, based on the outer world and sentient beings, fulfilling the wishes of the Buddhas constantly with the enjoyment of the treasury of space. Although the wisdom Mamos do not possess anger or disturbance, in order to subdue the worldly Mamos, they pacify their anger and disturbance through manifestations of wrath and agitation. Through the activity of great joy, diseases and harms are purified in the dharmadhatu, increasing lifespan, merit, and fame, and bestowing auspiciousness, happiness, and a treasury of abundance. If one diligently practices in this way six times a day, and signs of purification appear, then the wisdom Mamos dissolve into amrita, and the worldly Mamos depart into the dharmadhatu. The essence of medicine is sprinkled on the headwaters of the land and on blessed sacred sites, given to humans and livestock to ingest, made into pills to wear around the neck, and burned with incense. Even the epidemics of the end of an eon will be pacified in an instant. If one cannot accomplish this properly, even relying solely on tsok and amrita, through confession and restoration, sudden epidemics will be immediately pacified. This is a blessing of great benefit that has never been shown before. Samaya! The five great medicine goddesses and the twelve steadfast protectors of Tibet are unified in essence in the dharmadhatu, manifesting both unity and difference, displaying various illusions. Therefore, offering to them brings happiness to Tibet. If possible, prepare elaborate tormas (ritual cakes) and tsok, and if not, rely solely on essence offerings. Hūṃ bhyo (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit: bhyo, to destroy) Outwardly, they are the main protectors of Tibet, embodiments of demons, yakshas, and medicine women, connected to interdependence, years, months, seasons, and elements, appearing as the steadfast mothers. Inwardly, they are the twelve transformations of channels, winds, and bindus (drops), originally pure in the mandala of the vajra body. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
