In the self-generation mandala practice, first perform the generation stage practice for seven days, then focus on the generation stage of the vase for seven days. Focus on the front generation mandala for great practice, continuing for seven days. Alternatively, one can recite the mantra one thousand times each for the self-generation mandala, the front generation mandala, and the vase. Completing the practice daily is also acceptable, or for seven, ten, or twenty-one days, etc. The number of mantra recitations can be one hundred thousand or one million, etc. There are no strict rules regarding time and quantity. The signs that appear are: from the left and right sides of the sky, loud sounds are heard, and many beautiful women and children appear. They run, jump, and play, calling out to us, asking what is the matter. The women will offer jewels and various medicines. If it truly appears, ask: 'What should I do?' If they ask this, speak of the diseases of sentient beings, and what can benefit them. The signs that appear, the best is a real manifestation, the intermediate is a manifestation in meditation, and the lowest is a manifestation in dreams. Finding or bringing jewels, mirrors, butter lamps, and strings of lights. Accomplishments such as roots and water droplets will appear. If giving or offering haritaki and other medicines, as well as the three whites (milk, yogurt, ghee) food and alcohol, extremely beneficial accomplishments will appear. Blowing conch shells and playing music, according to the loudness of the music, fame for being skilled in medicine will be obtained. Giving or finding medical books, the understanding of medicine will greatly increase. Raising flags, sitting on a throne, with people prostrating and offering food and wealth, the medical accomplishment of taming beings will appear. Seeing Medicine Buddha in person, or seeing a painting or mural of Medicine Buddha, both common and supreme accomplishments will appear. The sun and moon rising, wearing white clothes, crossing a great river, drinking milk, impure pus and blood flowing from the body, these are all signs of clearing obstacles. Worms and pus and blood being discharged from the body, dreaming of vomiting impure things, thereby being liberated from disease. Dreaming of encouraging people to recite the six-syllable mantra in the marketplace, building a large bridge, the activities of benefiting beings will increase. The body is comfortable, the breath is pure, the mind is clear, faith, pure appearances, and renunciation increase, and the realization of reality arises, these are signs of supreme accomplishment. After completing the practice in this way, place the vase on your head, visualize Medicine Buddha personally bestowing empowerment. Just as at birth, the gods bathe, with the pure water of the gods, likewise empower me. The method of attaining accomplishment: From the collection of medicinal substances in the front visualization, take some with your thumb and forefinger and apply it to your heart. From the Medicine Buddha principal deity and retinue in the front visualization, rays of light emanate, gathering all the essence of appearances and existence, as well as the accomplishments of medicine, and dissolving them into oneself. From all the principal deities in the front visualization, from the five places of the forehead, throat, heart, navel, and secret place, white, red, blue, yellow, and green rays of light emanate and dissolve into oneself. Obtain the accomplishment of medicine that cures diseases, obtain the supreme empowerment of the ability to benefit beings, and become inseparable from the Medicine Buddha. Namo Om Vajra Bhaisajye Maha Bhaisajye Samungate Hum. Vajra Avesaya Ah Ah. Then make offerings, offering the four waters, the twenty-five articles of enjoyment, music, the five desirable qualities, the seven royal treasures, and the sixteen inner offering goddesses, as well as countless outer, inner, and secret offerings. Offer gardens, immeasurable palaces, wish-fulfilling trees, treasure vases, lotus ponds, and treasuries filled with precious jewels, grains, medicines, and essences, as well as clothes, thrones, vehicles, and attendants. Om Maha Bhaisajye Sapariwara Sarva Pratitsa Puja Megha Samudra Saparana Samaye Hum. I prostrate and praise the supreme king of medicine who heals the diseases of beings, who possesses a body as clear as lapis lazuli, and who liberates beings with the light of his body, together with his retinue. Because of the influence of ignorance and obstacles, my samadhi is unclear, my mantra sounds are impure, and my offerings are small, and I have not performed purification, and so on. I confess all transgressions and errors. Om Vajrasattva Samaya, recite the hundred-syllable mantra. For the benefit of all beings, all the wisdom and worldly medicine deities, please abide eternally in the supports of body, speech, and mind, such as Buddha images, mantras, and pills, and please explain the causes of diseases, the methods of healing, and the benefits of life, death, and rituals. The invited deities dissolve into the supports, the vows dissolve into one's own heart, and oneself also dissolves from the edge to the center, becoming emptiness. After meditating in this way for a moment, again manifest the illusory body of union, and manifest oneself as the Medicine Buddha principal deity, without any implements, and perform immeasurable deeds for the benefit of beings. May the lineage gurus such as Padmasambhava, Yuthok Yonten Gonpo, and Zurkhar Chöje be auspicious. May the Medicine Buddha, the medicine goddesses, and the hermits, as well as the yidam deities, be auspicious.
