Translation: The king said to Orgyen (Padmasambhava's pure land): 'Respected great teacher! In this land of Tibet, all the mountain peaks are like weapons adorned with white snow, the mountain slopes are like exposed rock skeletons, and all the land has turned into sandy islands with no trace of trees. It seems my temple cannot be built.' Orgyen (Padmasambhava) replied: 'Great Dharma King! Do not be discouraged. Northeast from Samye (the first monastery in Tibet), there is a lake that looks like two eggs split open. There lives the Naga King Neletokar. Go there and perform Naga offerings, and he will grant you the accomplishment of trees.' The king said: 'Then, please impart to me the secret of Naga offerings.' So, Padmasambhava imparted the secret of the Peaceful and Wrathful Three Deities (Gnyenpo Lha gsum) and made him understand. Padmasambhava said: 'Take the three whites (milk, yogurt, butter) and the three sweets (honey, brown sugar, rock sugar) to perform Naga offerings, and he will offer the accomplishment of trees.' After that, the king came to the lakeside, set up a white tent, offered the three whites and three sweets, and stayed for twenty-one days. At dawn, when the sun rose, a young and handsome man appeared and asked the king what he was doing. The king asked: 'Young man, who are you?' He replied: 'I am the Naga King Neletokar.' The king said: 'Since you are Neletokar, please grant me the accomplishment of trees.' Neletokar said: 'King, please return to the palace. I will offer the accomplishment of trees.' After saying that, he disappeared into the lake. After that, the king returned to the palace, and three days later at dawn, from the forest of red rock Ombu, there was a heavy rain that broke off a large piece of land. Starting from the corner of Samye, large and small trees came like a landslide, and all the wood for Samye was obtained from this. After Samye was built, the king thought: 'My temple was able to be built because of the kindness of the Naga, and I should build a statue for him.' So, he brought the offerings of the three whites and three sweets as before, came to the lakeside and summoned the Naga. As before, the young and handsome man appeared and asked the king what he wanted. The king said: 'My temple was able to be built because of your kindness, and I should build a statue for you. You live in the palace in the sea...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'How should I show my dwelling?' he asked. The youth replied, 'If I show the structure of my body residing in the palace, I have four poisons: the poison of seeing, the poison of touching, the poison of breath, and the poison of thought. If it affects the king's life, it will cause obstacles. Therefore, build one like me.' The king insisted, and the youth said, 'Then, return to the palace! After three days, when I make the sound 'Om Sga Bere Wa', apply medicine to your body and watch with a blindfold over your eyes!' Having said this, he entered the lake. Then, the king returned to the palace, and on the morning of the third day, a sound of 'Om Sga Bere Wa' was heard. The king did not apply medicine to his body, nor did he watch with a blindfold over his eyes, and as a result, he saw a terrifying black snake emerging from above Samye Monastery, its body radiating rainbow-like light, and the breath from its mouth causing all directions of Samye Monastery to become dark. The king's body was afflicted with leprosy, his limbs became swollen, and pus and blood flowed like a stream. Unable to bear the pain, he asked the teacher, 'Is my illness caused by past karma or by present circumstances?' The teacher replied, 'King, your illness is not caused by past karma, but by present circumstances. Because you befriended a Naga, you have been poisoned by the Naga.' The king asked, 'Is there a way to cure this disease?' The teacher replied, 'There is a way to cure it.' Then, the king, TsoGyal (Lake Queen, consort of Padmasambhava), and Oddiyana (Padmasambhava) went to the long cave of Drakmar Ombu (Red Rock Ombu), where Oddiyana practiced Vajrapani, the subduer of all arrogance, and empowered and blessed the king, and the leprosy on the king's body was cured, becoming even better than before. At that time, TsoGyal asked the teacher, 'Teacher, is now the time to spread the teachings?' Oddiyana replied, 'Now is a good time, a good era. In the future, demons will cause harm, and leprosy, dumbness, and madness will spread. For the sake of benefiting sentient beings at that time, let's hide the teachings as treasures and record them in writing!' Then, TsoGyal recorded the teachings in writing, offered them to the teacher, and asked, 'If we hide them as treasures, where should we hide them? When is the time to reveal the treasures? Who will be the owner of these teachings?' Oddiyana replied, 'In Samye...' Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svasti vira vā,Auspicious Seed Syllable) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
