I have never had an immortal body, life is fleeting, and the body is a composite, destined to decay. There is no certainty whatsoever as to when death will come. Therefore, contemplate death, for at that time, nothing but the sacred Dharma will be of benefit. So, by all means, I must practice a Dharma that will definitely be beneficial at the time of death. If I always think of doing it tomorrow or the day after, there is no telling when death will come. Therefore, like putting out a fire on my head or seeing a snake appear in my lap, with great urgency, I will generate the power of diligence and engage in practice. Second, contemplate the faults of samsara (cyclic existence): In the past, I have taken countless births in this three realms of samsara, experiencing unimaginable suffering. Now I still have no certainty of turning away from samsara, and I must endlessly endure unbearable suffering. Not only I alone, but all beings, including my parents, are also experiencing the suffering of the six realms: hells have the unbearable suffering of heat and cold; hungry ghosts suffer from unbearable hunger and thirst; animals also have the suffering of being killed, eaten, exploited, and being foolish; humans have the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death; asuras (demigods) have the suffering of envying the glory of the gods; and even the gods experience the suffering of insatiable craving for sensual pleasures and the suffering of death and falling. In short, in samsara, even in a place as small as the tip of a needle, there is not even a mustard seed of happiness. Therefore, be disgusted with samsara, like escaping from a dark abyss. Third, contemplate the principle of cause and effect: The reason for wandering in samsara and experiencing endless suffering is because of committing non-virtuous deeds; while the happiness of heaven and liberation comes from performing virtuous deeds. Therefore, take up and abandon virtue and non-virtue accordingly. Abandon the three non-virtuous actions of the body, the four of speech, and the three of mind, as well as the five heinous crimes, the near five heinous crimes, the four heavy sins, the eight wrong views, and other subtle misdeeds. As an antidote, practice the ten virtuous actions, the ten practices of Dharma, and other virtuous deeds. These should not be just words, but must be integrated into one's mind, and always... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Until your wisdom turns into Dharma and you completely abandon attachment to worldly affairs, you should contemplate and examine repeatedly. Padmasambhava has condensed the essence of all Dharmas into this common path for the benefit of future fortunate individuals. May this teaching meet those with good fortune, karma, wisdom, compassion, and diligence! ra pA na(Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, no literal meaning)རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ(Tibetan, no Sanskrit, no Romanization, no literal meaning)! I, like Dharma King Glingpa Yeshe Rolpa Tsal, extracted this from the miraculous palm-leaf manuscript written by Guru Rinpoche on yellow cloud paper from China. Copied from the manuscript of Orgyen Dharma King Glingpa. May there be auspiciousness! The Uncommon Preliminary Practices of the Quintessence of Great Bliss, the Swift Path to Enlightenment in One Lifetime The Uncommon Preliminary Practices of the Quintessence of Great Bliss, the Swift Path to Enlightenment in One Lifetime. (Tibetan, Devanagari, hrīḥ, seed syllable of Avalokiteśvara)! Homage to Glorious Heruka! Thus, with common Dharma, without attachment to the perfections of samsara, with faith in the true path, and practicing the stages of the uncommon four preliminaries, one enters the Buddhist teachings and eliminates obstacles. Therefore, one should take refuge in the Three Jewels, generate the mind of enlightenment, practice the recitation of Vajrasattva to purify the accumulation of sins and downfalls from beginningless time, offer the mandala of the three kayas to perfect the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, and supplicate and receive the four empowerments to instill the blessing of meaning into the heart. First, taking refuge: Alas! From beginningless time until now, I have been in this state of samsara, tormented by intense and prolonged suffering illusions. Not only am I alone suffering such unbearable pain, but all my parents, sentient beings, are also experiencing the same suffering. They do not know that suffering is suffering, and like a madman eating poison, they bring about their own destruction. How sad! How pitiful! One should speak these words and think sincerely in one's heart: 'How wonderful it would be if I could find a way to free them from this suffering and bring them happiness!' To achieve this goal, I must liberate myself from samsara, attain the mind of great bliss and enlightenment, and secure a firm foundation so that I can benefit all my parents, sentient beings, wandering in these three realms. Therefore, from this moment until I attain enlightenment, I take refuge in the Lama, the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
