Invoking the deities and retinue of the immeasurable mandala, by the truth and great blessings, may all the death lords and Yama's forces, along with their retinues, who obstruct the life of so-and-so (referring to the recipient of the ritual), Gather in this image! Om Vajra Akarsha Ya Ja! Ja Hum Bam Ho! Through the sound of throwing and the smoke of fish mint, convincing and summoning them, offering flowers and other five offerings to the image that appears as the actual Yama. Third, admonishing with the power of truth: With compassion and Bodhicitta, Om! Whatever phenomena, all have the nature of cause and effect; like sweet and bitter seeds, each ripens into its own fruit; virtuous and non-virtuous actions, their fruits are also the same; therefore, hatred, malice, etc., all non-virtuous actions should be abandoned; with a peaceful and loving heart, benefit these beings! Saying this, pacify their malicious thoughts, generate altruistic Bodhicitta, receive the admonishment, and partake of the Torma. Fourth, dedicating the Torma: Arrange ten portions of Torma on a Shampa (a type of vessel), purify them. From emptiness, the Torma vessel arises from Bhrum (seed syllable, Tibetan: བྷྲཱུྃ, Devanagari: भ्रूं, Romanized Sanskrit: bhrūṃ, meaning: Bhrum), becoming a deep and vast vessel made of jewels, filled with Torma possessing excellent color, smell, taste, and touch, transforming into a great ocean of nectar. Recite Om Ah Hum (seed syllables, Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, meaning: Om; Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, meaning: Ah; Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, meaning: Hum) three times to bless it, then visualize the first Torma: In the palm of your right hand, visualize a white Om (seed syllable, Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, meaning: Om) on top of a moon disc, emitting a stream of nectar that mixes with the Torma, causing the death lords and their retinues to enjoy it, feeling pleased and satisfied. Recite Om Namah Sarva Tathagata Avalokite Om Sambhara Sambhara Hum (mantra, Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ན་མཿསརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་ཨ་ཝ་ལོ་ཀི་ཏེ་ཨོཾ་སཾ་བྷ་ར་སཾ་བྷ་ར་ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: ॐ नमः सर्व तथागत अवलोकिते ॐ सम्भर सम्भर हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ namaḥ sarva tathāgata avalokite oṃ sambhara sambhara hūṃ, meaning: Om, Homage to all Tathagatas, who gaze down! Om, accumulate, accumulate, Hum!) ten times, dedicating it to their satisfaction, and finally circumambulate the recipient. Om! Death lords and Yama, along with your retinues, please partake of this excellent Torma, and quickly pacify all the death, disease, demons, and obstacles of so-and-so (referring to the recipient of the ritual)! Place the Torma in the Torma accumulation place. Then, after the root mantra, recite Om Akala Mrityu Jwara Dushtam Sarva Shantim Kuru Ye Svaha (mantra, Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨ་ཀཱ་ལ་མྲྀ་ཏྱུ་ཛྭ་ར་དུཥྚཱཾ་སརྦ་ཤཱནྟིཾ་ཀུ་རུ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ, Devanagari: ॐ अकाला मृत्यु ज्वर दुष्टां सर्व शान्तिं कुरु ये स्वाहा, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ akālā mṛtyu jvara duṣṭāṃ sarva śāntiṃ kuru ye svāhā, meaning: Om, untimely death, fever, evil, all peace, do, may you, Svaha!) seven times, and bathe the recipient with a vajra and peacock feather, symbolizing absorption into the substitute. As before, with the power of truth preceding it, may so-and-so (referring to the recipient of the ritual) be liberated from the noose of the death lord! May they be liberated from the judgment of Yama! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ra cig. May there be auspiciousness! May I be liberated from all unfavorable circumstances! By reciting this, visualize that all obstacles and unfavorable circumstances leave the body in the form of black smoke and dissolve into the substitute (glud), and then use the karma vajra (las kyi rdo rje) to untie the colored thread that binds the practitioner, untie one layer and wrap it around the substitute, and erase one pattern on the amulet (byang bu). Similarly, the offering, purification of karma, release of bonds, and removal of patterns for the second to tenth tormas (gtor ma) should be understood as before. Fifth, offering the substitute: Again, purify the substitute with 'ngar glud ram yam kham'. From emptiness, visualize the substitute arising from 'om ah hum svaha', complete with all the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of a person, as well as immeasurable enjoyments and resources, and then bless it with the mantra and mudra of the Treasury of Space (nam mkha' mdzod). Recite: hum! O great person of the excellent substitute, made of the nature of the five aggregates; perfectly endowed with the eight consciousnesses; beautiful in appearance, graceful in demeanor; skilled in speech, with a sweet voice; quick in mind, clear in thought; wearing beautiful garments; with piles of food and drink for enjoyment. Such a wonderful and rare substitute is made from the power of samadhi, mantra, mudra, and the play of dharmata (chos nyid). Please joyfully accept this substitute, and having accepted it, please pacify your fierce and cruel heart towards this practitioner, release those who are seized, untie those who are bound, spit out those who are swallowed, revive those who are dead, and with a peaceful and loving heart, pacify the fear of death.' Recite this, offering the age of the practitioner, etc., circumambulate, and place it before the image of the Lord of Death ('chi bdag). Sixth, offering wealth: Bless the offered wealth with the mantra and mudra of the Treasury of Space, and then offer it. Although it is not explained in detail here, according to other similar rituals, a measure (bre) with small measuring tools can be used. Write 'om asma sarva parci murti thib svaha' on the measure, recite it twenty-one times, and place it. Similarly, recite and place the cut wood. Then measure the grains, etc., that are suitable for measuring with the measure, and recite: ho! I offer to the Lord of Death, Yama Raja (gshin rje'i rgyal po), and his retinue, five kinds of grains and other objects of enjoyment, from one measure to ten, hundred, thousand, million, billion, trillion, and countless. Please joyfully accept this as a substitute for the life and vitality of this practitioner, abandon harmful thoughts and actions, and be endowed with the mind of benefit, happiness, and bodhicitta.' In this way, the counting attendant measures and places it before the image of the Lord of Death. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
