Hūṃ! I! Hūṃ! O, master, great powerful Dharma king! From your heart essence, the wisdom fire arises! May it burn and purify without remainder the karma and afflictions That cause the deceased to be born in hell, And the imprints of sins and obscurations. Sarva naraka gati bhasmi kuru svāhā! (Tibetan, सर्व नरक गति भस्मि कुरु स्वाहा, sarva naraka gati bhasmi kuru svāhā, all hell realms, burn, do, svāhā!) Imagine it being scattered by the wind of Dharma nature, Hūṃ! From the Dharma nature, empty and clear, without beginning or end, The mirror-like wisdom forcefully emerges, In the state of great non-dual expanse, May all conceptual obscurations and imprints be purified. At the end of the recitation and accomplishment mantra and the purification dhāraṇī, recite: Oṃ daha daha sarva naraka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ! (Tibetan, ॐ दह दह सर्व नरक गते हेतुम् हूँ फट्, oṃ daha daha sarva naraka gate hetuṃ hūṃ phaṭ, oṃ, burn, burn, all hell realms, cause, hūṃ, phaṭ!) Having thus purified the obscurations, in order to bestow the share of wisdom, perform the empowerment: Imagine that from the soles of the feet of the main deity in front of you, emanates the Thubpa (Buddha) of hell, dissolving into the deceased, and empower with a body representation (statue). Hūṃ! O, great powerful Dharma king who tames beings! By empowering the deceased son of the lineage, May they be liberated from the suffering of hot and cold hells, And may the mirror-like wisdom be manifested. Oṃ muni hūṃ kāya abhiṣiñcāmi! (Tibetan, ॐ मुनि हूँ काय अभिषिञ्चामि, oṃ muni hūṃ kāya abhiṣiñcāmi, oṃ, muni, hūṃ, body, I empower.) Guide the target to the place of the hungry ghosts, with the gesture of cutting off the return path with a vajra. Hūṃ! Knowing that below this place is the realm of suffering hells, Like a burning pit of fire, Approach the mandala with strong renunciation, May you attain the supreme wisdom of non-retrogression. Second part: As before, purify and bless the ransom torma, then dedicate it: Hūṃ! This enjoyment of the torma that fills the sky and arises as desired, In order to purify the hungry ghost debts accumulated by the deceased from beginningless samsara, I dedicate it. May they be satisfied with the supreme bliss of non-leakage. Sarva preta ka gati bhyaḥ balinta khāhi khāhi! (Tibetan, सर्व प्रेत क गति भ्यः बलिन्त ख खाही, sarva preta ka gati bhyaḥ balinta khāhi khāhi, all hungry ghost realms, offering, eat, eat!) From the boundless expanse of Dharmadhatu, may the power of discriminating awareness wisdom arise, and in the state of non-dual vastness, may all conceptual obscurations and habitual tendencies be purified! At the end of the approach and accomplishment, mantra and shaking of the bell, recite: OM PATSA PATSA SARVA PRETA KAGA GATE HETUM HUNG PHAT! And strike with sand, visualizing washing with the water of Bodhicitta. HUNG! In the auspicious, radiant vase of the sphere of reality, filled with the nectar of wisdom, the nature of generosity. By bathing the son/daughter of the deceased lineage, may the causes and effects of afflicted miserliness be purified! Recite the approach and accomplishment mantra and the dharani mantra and bathe. Having thus purified the obscurations, in order to establish a share of wisdom, the empowerment is given: From the secret place of the main deity in front of oneself, emanate the Great Sage (Shakyamuni Buddha) and dissolve it into the deceased, visualizing thus and empowering with a statue. HUNG! The Great Sage, the subduer of beings, the blazing-mouthed deity, by empowering the son/daughter of the deceased lineage, may they be liberated from the suffering of hunger and thirst of the pretas, and may discriminating awareness wisdom be manifested! SARVA TIRYA KAGA GATE BHYAH BALIMTA KHAHI KHAHI! As a symbol of burning with the fire of wisdom, scatter white mustard seeds, HUNG! From the heart essence of the master, the Great Sage, the Steadfast Lion, with the wisdom fire light that arises, may the karma and afflictions of the deceased's birth in the animal realm, and the remaining sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies be burned and purified without remainder! SARVA TIRYA KAGA GATE BHASMI KURU SVAHA! Visualize the torma being blown by the wind of Dharmata, HUNG! Dharmata is empty and clear, without beginning or end, from the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, may the power arise, and in the state of non-dual vastness, may all conceptual obscurations and habitual tendencies be purified!
