Accumulation (Tibetan: གསག་པ།), meaning to accumulate. Aspiration (Tibetan: སྨོན་ལམ་གདབ་པའོ།), meaning to pray. First, by performing the preliminary practice of taking refuge and generating bodhicitta, accumulate merit; then, as described below, purify all phenomena that appear as subject and object into clear light through the mantra of emptiness (Tibetan: སྭ་བྷཱ་བའི་སྔགས་), thereby accumulating wisdom. In order to ripen the two accumulations into an illusory Buddha-field and to arise as the deity's form in front of oneself and others, one should visualize clearly in this way, according to the treasure text's vajra words: Oṃ svabhāva śuddhaḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'ham (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷཱ་བ་ཤུདྡྷཿསརྦ་དྷརྨཱཿསྭ་བྷཱ་བ་ཤུདྡྷོ྅་ཧཾ༔, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ स्वभाव शुद्धः सर्व धर्माः स्वभाव शुद्धोऽहम्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svabhāva śuddhaḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'ham, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, self-nature pure, all dharmas self-nature pure, I am also pure) From the state of emptiness, all the earth Becomes the pure and blissful realm of Sukhavati, In the center of its inconceivable splendor, Upon a lotus and moon cushion, One's own self arises as the noble Avalokiteśvara, Possessing red and white radiance, with hands joined in prayer, Appearing as a youthful bodhisattva, Seated in the bodhisattva posture. In front, upon a precious throne held up by peacocks, Upon a lotus and moon cushion, Lord Amitabha, with a red-colored body, Holds a nectar-filled begging bowl in meditative equipoise, Adorned with the glory of marks and signs, wearing Dharma robes, Relying on the greatly flourishing Bodhi tree, Whose captivating shade, In the expanse of limitless rays of light, He sits in the vajra posture. To the right is the noble Avalokiteśvara, White and clear, with one face and two arms, The right hand in the gesture of supreme generosity, the left Symbolizing the Three Jewels with the gesture of granting refuge, Holding a stem of blossoming white lotus. To the left is Vajrapani, the mighty one, Blue in color, with one face and two arms, The right hand holding a vajra, the left Holding a bell in the gesture of granting refuge. In front is an assembly of noble ones, Above, below, and in all directions, Buddhas and bodhisattvas, World-protecting deities beyond comprehension, All proclaiming the sound of the Dharma, Delighting in the supreme nectar, Appearing as clearly as if directly perceived. Recite this and visualize with focused clarity. As it is said in the sutras: 'Whoever remembers the Buddha, the Tathagata abides before them.' Although the root text does not mention the rituals of invocation, etc., for beginners who enjoy elaboration, one should, with unwavering faith, visualize the wisdom light radiating from the syllable in the heart and the urna hair between the eyebrows of the Buddha and his retinue in front, and invoke Lord Amitabha from the western pure land of Sukhavati, surrounded by Buddhas, bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Arhats, Dharma protectors, and world-protecting deities. Recite this and visualize, then offer incense... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
