To those sentient beings in the Bardo (the intermediate state between death and rebirth) who have no ground to stand on, who are in a perilous state without refuge or protection, without a protector or friends, whose bodies, composed of the four elements, experience the nature of suffering, who are tormented by fear and illusions, and who do not know where to go, especially the Chege (a type of being), I dedicate this merit. May they be free from the fear and suffering of the Bardo and quickly attain unsurpassed Bodhi (Enlightenment). Namo! By the power of my thought, and the giving power of the Tathagata (Buddha), and the powers of the Dharmadhatu (the realm of truth), may the noble ones, may all sentient beings, may all purposes, may all of these, come to pass without obstruction! Showing the Path: Listen, deceased son of good family! Samsara (cyclic existence) is a suffering aggregate (Phungpo, the five aggregates), a confusion of change and fabrication, born from Karma (action) and dependent on Karma. Therefore, do not be attached to it. The power of the Lama (Guru) and the Three Jewels (Konchok) will appear in the field of your faith. Generate devotion, son of good family! From here to the west, there is the realm of Dewachen (Sukhavati, the Pure Land of Bliss). The protector Amitabha (Infinite Light) resides there. The moment you remember him, you will go there. So, take hold of the name of the protector, abandon doubt, and go there! Project the consciousness (Namshé) in the form of the syllable Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,摧毁) towards Dewachen. If there is a name tablet at that time, burn it with the root mantra. Pray: May I and others be born as the foremost retinue in the mandala of the Buddhas, etc., and in the realm of bliss, at the feet of the Bhagavan (Blessed One) protector Amitabha and the father and son Lodrö Nyingpo (Wisdom Essence)! Third, for the benefit of the disciples: Set up the deity mandala (Kyilkhor) in front, the mandala offering (Mandala), and the torma (offering cakes), arranging the main deity and the retinue. Place a vase (Bumpa) on top. On the right and left, place mirrors smeared with sindhura (red pigment), with the syllable Hrīḥ (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,大种) written on them, surrounded by a string of mantras. Prepare crystal stones, lotus bowls, and body images, etc. After completing the self-generation of the deity and the offerings, and the light dissolving of the vase deity, visualize the action vase and bless it with the mantra of Hayagriva (Horse-necked One). Perform bathing for the disciples, dispel obstacles, set up protection circles, etc., as common rituals. Perform the offering and gathering of flowers, and clearly explain the generation of Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment). Then say: Here, arising from the self-radiance of the individually discerning wisdom of all the Sugatas (Those Gone to Bliss), beyond many worlds to the west, there is a supreme realm called Dewachen (Sukhavati), which gathers together the qualities and splendor of eighty-one hundred thousand myriads of Buddha-fields. All the Buddhas... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Within the Vajra nature of the speech of all Buddhas, surrounded by the eight great close sons, princes, Shravakas, and the irreversible assembly like an ocean, they abide in the definitive meaning without wavering, with inconceivable compassion and wisdom, contemplating the boundless realms of the ten directions, and manifesting according to what can be tamed as Protector Amitayus (Tshe-dpag-med), Padmasambhava (Padma-byung), Avalokiteshvara (Spyan-ras-gzigs), Tara (Sgrol-ma), Hayagriva (Rta-mgrin), the Six Buddhas who subdue the six realms (Thub-drug), a thousand Buddhas, and other emanations, re-emanations, and further emanations, with inconceivable oceanic activities, ripening sentient beings like an ocean. These are extensively described in the scriptures. And the methods of practice, in both the new and old traditions, are limitless. Now, what is timely is, from the Vajra words of Great Bliss Padma Vajra: 'A short-bodied Bhikshu with red complexion, always gazing westward, that hero is my emanation.' And so on, the sound of praise is also proclaimed. In the land of Tibet, undeniably recognized as the master of the early translation teachings, is the great teacher Zhiwa Lha and the accomplished Nepali Bhadantapa of glorious Chakrasamvara ('Khor-lo-sdom-pa), etc., the reincarnation of the great Kathokpa Dampa Deshek (Dampa-bde-gshegs), Sherab Senge (Shes-rab-seng-ge), Pobpa Thaye (Spobs-pa-mtha'-yas), etc., praised by many names. That venerable one received the blessings of the intention of Bhagavan Amitabha (Snang-ba-mtha'-yas), in the manner of self-manifestation, the method of attaining Buddhahood like Secret Mantra Mahayoga. This was transmitted by his excellent son, the emanation of the great accomplished Kanhapa, Lama Tsangton Dorje Gyaltsen (Gtsang-ston-rdo-rje-rgyal-mtshan), who resides in the land of light, and then transmitted to Venerable Rinpoche Mogton Sonam Bumpa (Rmog-ston-bsod-nams-'bum-pa). They all, in pure manifestation, see Sukhavati (Dewachen) as a field where the master and retinue are inseparable, and even now truly reside in Sukhavati under the names Bodhisattva Lodro Nyingpo (Blo-gros-snying-po), Dawa Nyugu (Zla-ba'i-myu-gu), Dewa Nyugu (Bde-ba'i-myu-gu), and have promised to lead the lineage holders and faithful disciples to that pure land. In the future, in the kalpa when stars are scattered, they will attain Buddhahood under the names Deshek Tsepaktumedpa (Bde-gshegs-tshe-dpag-tu-med-pa), Senge Shyonnu (Seng-ge-gzhon-nu), Ozer Rabtu Trowa ('Od-zer-rab-tu-'phro-ba), etc. These indisputable great beings have been transmitted in an unbroken lineage, and as indicated by the Vajra words, the initiation and liberation rituals can be selected from the same lineage.
