In the center of the mandala is the form chakra of Vairochana, an ornament filled with essence. In the four directions are four vases, each containing the form of one of the four families. All five are adorned with neck ornaments and have the complexion of deities. In the four intermediate directions, on top of the four long-life vases, are the four: vajra, jewel, lotus, and sword, adorned with the syllables Outside of that, directly in line with the four doors, are four white-faced goddesses of abundant growth, along with four arrows and banners of various colors. In the four intermediate directions, four swords are erected. The emblems of the five families are placed separately in the center of the mandala. There are long-life pills, long-life wine, arrows and banners, and the eight auspicious symbols as the outer supports. The outer and inner offerings and tormas are arranged as usual. All the necessary implements for the action ritual are assembled. Secondly, for the initial empowerment, the accomplishment of the offering is performed: To straighten the activity, the self-generation and front-generation are practiced inseparably. After completing as many recitations as possible, along with the life-attracting tsok offering, generate either Hayagriva or a coiled form in the action vase, recite the mantra, and dissolve the light. Visualize yourself separately from the heart of the main deity of the mandala as red Amitayus, adorned with the attire of the Sambhogakaya, holding a long-life vase and a wish-fulfilling jewel in your two hands. Throw the flower of wisdom and request permission to introduce the disciples. Next is the empowerment: Summon the disciples and perform ablutions with the water from the action vase. Bestow the obstacle-removing torma, and proceed according to the action ritual with the consecration, exorcism, and establishment of the protective circle. Inspire and establish the mind of enlightenment. The general and specific explanations related to the long-life empowerment. As it is said in this very text: 'The desiring nature of males and females in the desire realm, not knowing their own nature, mistakenly conceptualize their own minds. Hundreds of thousands of demons are intent on taking their lives. To protect from that, the long-life practice of the five families is taught.' As it is said, in general, for all beings born in the desire realm, and especially for sentient beings born in times when the influence of the five degenerations (the five degenerations: of lifespan, of time, of views, of afflictions, and of beings) is increasingly strong and the afflictions are extremely intense. Their lifespans are as short as the winter sun, and even then, they cannot live to their full lifespan, but suddenly die due to many untimely causes. Out of great compassion for these beings to be tamed at this time, Guru Padmasambhava, the one protector, Amitayus himself, for the fortunate king and subjects, gave countless profound long-life practice tantras and instructions related to the common, individual, and special aspects, and mostly sealed them as treasures, so that in accordance with the progression of time, they would appear for the benefit of fortunate ones. Here, from among the many profound treasures discovered by Orgyen Dorje Lingpa, the third of the five treasure-king, the reincarnation of the great translator, the emanation of Vairochana. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Among the eight types of oral instructions, this is the very first, the supreme treasure directly bestowed by Guru Rinpoche from Ngamshö Namchak Drak, a part of the Dzogchen View Long Yang (Vast Expanse). It is introduced through practices such as the Tsedrub (long life practice) of the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, connected with the 'Net of Light,' and the empowerment wheel of Tsiwang Rinpoche (Precious Long Life Empowerment), followed by the offering of a mandala. Following the common introduction, the eyes are covered with 'Om Chakshu Bandha Waramana Ya Hum,' and flowers are offered with 'Om Ah Hum.' With great reverence, please repeat the following prayers: Kye! Lama (Guru), Sangye (Buddha) Tsepakme (Amitayus, Buddha of Limitless Life), Lord of all Buddhas of the three times! Long Life, Freedom, and Perfectly Complete Wisdom, please bestow the stages of empowerment! (Recite three times) First, to purify the mindstream, visualize the Lama (Guru) and Tsepakme (Amitayus, Buddha of Limitless Life) of the five families, the mandala of the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, surrounded by the Three Roots and Dharma Protectors. With the aspiration that oneself and all sentient beings pervading space will take refuge from the depths of their hearts until enlightenment is attained, please repeat the following: Namo! Dorje Tsi Chok (Supreme Vajra Life) etc., recite three times according to the practice text. For the sake of establishing all parent sentient beings, included in the four births and five paths, in the state of Buddhahood, temporarily liberating them from the fear of the Lord of Death, and ultimately actualizing the state of the Bhagavan (Blessed One), the Lord of Life of the five families, enter the uncommon ripening path and take to heart the liberating instructions. Generate the mind of enlightenment and repeat the following: 'I and infinite...' (Recite three times). With the intention to properly perform the accumulation, purification, and increase of the ten-limbed offering before the supreme and sacred field of merit, please repeat the following: Tsi Dak Zhi Thro Lha Tsok Shek (Long Life Lord, Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, descend!)...etc. To ensure that the mindstream is endowed with vows, take all the vows and commitments of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana, which are included in the general, specific, and especially superior vows, and with the mind of upholding them properly, please repeat the following: The Sugatas (Buddhas) and their Sons, be mindful of me! I, the Vidyadhara (Knowledge Holder), Until I reach the essence of enlightenment, The vows of individual liberation, The training of the Bodhisattva, And the commitments of the Vidyadhara mantras, I will keep them perfectly. (Recite three times) Then, the declaration of commitment: Place the vajra on the head and recite: Hum! This is the Vajra of Commitment, Given to you, my child! If you can keep it, you will gain a hundred thousand qualities; If you cannot keep it, you will fall into the Vajra Hell! Samaya Idam Te Nara Kana. Give the nectar of commitment water and recite: Hum! The boiling water of the wrathful commitment! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
