Whatever arises as the perceived objects of the six aggregates of consciousness, recognizing their own nature allows for unfabricated, natural use. As a result, one will breathe into the ultimate, unsurpassed state of union, the exceedingly pure state of the Great Glorious Heruka (Heruka, deity name), the supreme attainment. Thus it is said. Third, regarding subsequent actions, there are three points: the limb of the preceding practice, actions at the end of the session, and conduct between sessions. The first point is: if, having practiced the five stages as described above, one does not achieve completion in this life, at the time of death, one must connect with the swift path of transference of consciousness (phowa). Among these, the superior faculty transfers consciousness into the Clear Light Dharmakaya, and the intermediate faculty transfers consciousness into the illusory Sambhogakaya; these two are not within the scope of practice. Only the inferior faculty, transferring consciousness with focused intention into the pure land of the Nirmanakaya, is what should be practiced. Initially, the purification is as follows: visualize one's own body as the deity's form, complete with the central channel, etc., clearly appearing. The upper end of the dhati (subtle channel) is completely open at the Brahma aperture, and the lower end is coiled tightly below the navel. In the heart, above the obstruction of the knots, visualize the essence of wind—a white and bluish bindu (drop), in the center of which is one's own mind, the white A-syllable (ཨ,A), clear and transparent. Focus and gather the wind and mind single-pointedly, holding the kumbhaka (vase breath). When the experience of union arises, visualize at the crown of one's head the essence of the root guru, in the form of the Great Glorious Heruka, surrounded by a host of heroes and dakinis. With intense longing, repeatedly supplicate for the accomplishment of the profound path of transference. Adjust the body posture straight, drawing the downward-moving energy upward. Simultaneously with exhaling, utter the sound 'Hik,' causing the essence of the wind and mind in the heart, the bindu and A-syllable, to rise up from within the central channel like a flash of lightning. It exits from the Brahma aperture and dissolves into the heart of the guru, the Great Glorious One. Contemplate dissolving into the natural state of primordial purity. Again, utter the sound 'Ka,' causing the bindu to emerge and remain in its own place in the heart. Repeat this again and again. When concluding the session, withdraw the bindu. Visualize the guru at the crown of the head, along with his retinue, dissolving into light and merging into the A-syllable in the heart, so that the guru and one's own mind become inseparable. Visualize the Brahma aperture sealed with a vajra (thunderbolt), stabilizing it with the wind yoga of kumbhaka. Seal it with dedication and aspiration prayers. Through such effort, if signs of the Brahma aperture opening appear, such as itching and swelling of the crown, and the discharge of fluid, then temporarily cease the practice. By maintaining constant mindfulness, it will be accomplished effortlessly at the time of death. Applying this to practice: when all the definite signs of death are present, as in the previous practice, dissolve the wind and mind into the heart of Heruka, and believe that he has departed to the Akanishta pure land, without any mental fabrication. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
