If the mind of enlightenment arises, in an instant, Those pitiful beings bound in the prison of samsara, Will be called the sons of the Sugatas, And the gods and humans of the world will prostrate to them. The reason for this is that, in general, the realm of space is immeasurable and pervades all sentient beings without exception. There is not one of these beings who has not been our parent in countless lifetimes. Thus, they have taken turns being our parents, bestowing immeasurable benefits and protecting us from immeasurable harms. They are all benefactors. All beings desire happiness and comfort, yet their actions create suffering. For these pitiful beings whose practice contradicts their wishes, we must establish them in the state of liberation. For this purpose, I will practice the profound swift path—Guru Yoga. Thinking this from the depths of your heart: 'HOḤ! (Tibetan, Devanagari: होः, Romanized Sanskrit: hoḥ, Exclamation) From now until samsara is empty, may I wield the power of the Buddhas' activities, establish limitless beings in the state of nirvana, and generate the supreme mind of enlightenment!' Recite this three times or as much as you can, generating the mind of enlightenment. Finally, the object of generating the mind of enlightenment—sentient beings, the subject generating the mind of enlightenment—oneself, and the mind of enlightenment generated, all three are placed in a state of non-objectification, in the state of the three spheres being empty, generating the ultimate mind of enlightenment. Second, the main practice includes five aspects: generating devotion with the necessary reasons for practicing yoga, visualizing the deity, making offerings, making supplications, and receiving empowerment. First, our teacher, the one with great compassion, according to the different faculties of the beings to be tamed, taught countless sublime Dharmas to be practiced. Among all these paths, the most important is Guru Yoga. The Hevajra Tantra says: 'Not spoken by others, the co-emergent, cannot be found anywhere. It is known through the teacher's skillful means and my own merit.' The Five Steps say: 'If one falls from the peak of a mountain, even if one thinks not to fall, one will fall. If one finds the path of benefit through the kindness of the teacher, even if one thinks not to be liberated, one will be liberated.' Moreover, the Guru is the complete embodiment of the Three Jewels of refuge. The Abhidharma says: 'The Guru is the Buddha, the Guru is the Dharma, likewise, the Guru is the Sangha. The Guru is the doer of all.' Furthermore, the teacher is also the true --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The fully enlightened Buddha himself also takes the form of a virtuous friend, a great captain to guide us. As it is said: 'In the future, I will take the form of a virtuous friend and accomplish the benefit of you and others.' If you offer to and pray to the Lama, then all the Buddhas of the ten directions and their retinues dwell in the Vajra of the Lama's body, speech, and mind, becoming a great indivisible entity, accomplishing benefit, and thus obtaining merit that is more excellent than other merits. As it is said in the 'Face-to-Face Instructions of Manjushri': 'Here, for some meaningful ones, I dwell in his body, receiving offerings better than other practitioners. He is pleased, and he purifies the karmic obscurations in his own continuum.' And as it is said in the 'Tantra of the Ocean of Nectar of Qualities': 'Compared to offering to the Buddhas filling the sky, adorned with various jewels, filling the three thousand worlds, applying one drop of butter to a single pore of the Lama, hundreds of thousands of merits cannot compare.' The Lama and the fully enlightened Buddha dwell in the same state. As it is said in the 'Thal Gyur': 'The Lama and the Buddha are equal. Relying on him, the qualities are like a wish-fulfilling tree and precious jewels, like a wish-fulfilling cow, obtaining immeasurable qualities. Focusing on him, rely on the Lama, to turn away from the battlefield of samsara.' However, from our own perspective, it has been a long time since the fully enlightened Buddha showed the manner of passing into nirvana. In order to integrate the activities of the Tathagata into our own continuum, the Lama is even more superior and kind than the fully enlightened Buddha. As it is said in the 'Gongdu': 'Before there was a Lama, there was not even the name of Buddha. Know that the Lama is more important than the Buddhas of a thousand kalpas. Why? All the bodies of the Buddhas of a thousand kalpas arose by relying on the Lamas.' Thus, from many aspects, remembering the qualities and kindness, one should generate strong devotion. Secondly, visualize the place where you are staying as a pure realm, sinking when pressed and rising when lifted, vast and pleasing. In the space above your crown, in the midst of a dense array of five-colored rainbow tents, on a precious throne supported by lions, on a seat of various lotuses and stacked sun and moon discs, sits the kind root Lama himself, in the form of the great master of Oddiyana, Padmasambhava, with a body color... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
