Meditate on yoga with devotion, and pray with strong reverence: 'Tonight, please let me dream many clear, good dreams, and let me recognize dreams within dreams.' Or pray: 'Please let me grasp the dream.' In terms of conduct, be slow and do not disturb the pulse and breath. Body postures can be the lotus position, squatting, or lying down with the head facing north, pillow elevated, and the right side down in the lion's posture. Choose one of these to fall asleep. The key point of visualization: Visualize your own body as a clear and empty deity, and in the heart, there is a white, immaculate, radiant Tibetan seed syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: none). Rest peacefully in this state. Generate devotion to the guru and remembrance of the dream. From the Tibetan seed syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: none) radiate five-colored rays of light, like a rainbow, pervading all appearances. Remember that this is a dream. Thus, all appearances of samsara and nirvana dissolve into light like flames. Remember that this is a dream. Then, the light gathers back and dissolves into the Tibetan seed syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: none) in the heart. Remember this. The Tibetan seed syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: none) appears clearly like the moon rising in a clear sky, focus on this. Remember this. In that state, focus on the clear and ungrasping Tibetan seed syllable ཨ་ (Tibetan: ཨ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal meaning: none) and fall asleep, so that you will have many clear dreams and realize 'This is a dream.' There are two situations: Easily grasping the dream means that in the dream, you realize you are dreaming, and you will experience many sleep interruptions. Difficult to grasp the dream means that you dream of terrifying scenes such as falling off a cliff or being chased by a dog, and thereby realize that this might be a dream. If you do not grasp the dream in the evening, upon waking up, reflect: 'I had such a dream in the evening, but I did not grasp it.' Then meditate on illusion. Thinking 'I must grasp it no matter what,' remember and fall asleep according to the previous visualization method. If this is still ineffective, then take advantage of the timing: dawn, daybreak, sunrise these three times. Near dawn, when there is still some sleepiness remaining, wake up, maintain the body posture, and practice the previous visualization with strong intention. At any of the three times of dawn, or maintaining any of the three body postures, practice the previous visualization, and finally fall asleep in a clear and ungrasping state, without letting other thoughts interrupt. In short, during the day, in all activities, continuously maintain the remembrance of the dream without distraction. By the power of this, when going to sleep at night, when the coarse appearances of wakefulness disappear, and before falling into deep sleep, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is called 'Awareness between Sleep and Dream Appearances'. After hearing ringing in the ears, or feeling numbness in the body, or feeling heavy pressure, or difficulty breathing, or a tingling sensation in the eyebrows, immediately a vague image of people or houses, etc., will arise. Because this is the cause of dreams, if you can recognize it, like threading a needle, dreams will occur continuously. At that time, do not open your eyes, contract the lower breath, focus on what you have grasped, and resolve to practice, so you will not fall into confusion. For people of superior ability, this alone may be enough to succeed. If you repeatedly try to grasp it but fail, then you are in a state of confusion. There are four types of confusion: if you don't want to dream and fall into confusion, that is 'empty confusion'; if you dream a lot but don't realize you are dreaming, that is 'ignorant confusion'; if you wake up as soon as you grasp the dream, that is 'wakeful confusion'; if you fall into an ordinary dream as soon as you grasp the dream and become confused, that is 'dull confusion'. If this happens often, you need the instructions for cutting off confusion, which should be learned from the guru's instructions. Second, there are three types of practice: practicing transformation, practicing illusion, and practicing the liberation of illusion. The first is: If you can grasp the dream, then all appearances are dreams, thinking that you can transform them at will. Transform from one to many, from many to one, transform peaceful and wrathful forms into each other.' Therefore, after gaining stability in grasping the dream, you must practice. Moreover, to counteract attachment to one, you must practice transformation. After meditating on the Guru Yoga and praying for the accomplishment of dreams, during the day, with the intention of dreams, break down attachment to everything that appears, thinking: 'I am asleep, all appearances are dream appearances, dream appearances are not truly established, so they can be transformed at will.' Thinking this way, practice transforming the subtle and gross aspects of the outer and inner world back and forth, transforming from one to many, gradually reducing from many to one, transforming pillars, vases, etc., into sentient beings, people, and animals, and similarly, transforming sentient beings into pillars, vases, etc., whatever you want, transforming peaceful forms into wrathful forms, and wrathful forms into peaceful forms, etc., learn to transform into various forms as you wish. At night, in dreams, recognize that you are dreaming, and transform as you wish with the previous intention and focus. Second, practicing illusion is: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
