taranatha24023 Collected Teachings of Dolpopa JT517 A Treatise Called Clarifying the Mahayana Sangha Jewel..g2.0f

Oh, and also, Shariputra (knowing that from that time on the Dharma would become very extensive) asked the Blessed One: (Having) practiced (prajna) in (this life), from where (in the previous life) to where (in the future life) will (one) transmigrate (and be born)? (When) asked (this), the Victorious One replied: A. 1. The best is from another Buddha's (actually residing) pure land (transmigrated here); 2. The intermediate is from Tushita Heaven (transmigrated here); 3. The worst is from (practicing Mahayana) people transmigrated here (that is, those) (are also noble ones by aspiration, and others by virtuous deeds are drawn to that). 1. In order (the best is) to achieve prajna in this life (and cultivate prajna in all lifetimes, be born in the Buddha's pure land and make offerings); 2. (The intermediate is) one birth away (not losing the six perfections, and also obtaining the door of samadhi dharani); 3. (The worst time to achieve prajna) is uncertain, the faculties are dull (the time to obtain dharani and samadhi is also uncertain). The future (transmigrated from here) (eighth bhumi) will not be shaken. Unless one obtains non-retrogression (that is, to be born as a human being for the benefit of sentient beings, and has a keen ability to transmigrate). To this, the meaning of achieving prajna is: with diligence, not discriminating (and) single-mindedly abide (in this). From this (shamatha-vipashyana union) meditation is workable. Obtain the warmth of the Victorious One (the Buddha's wisdom like this). (Bodhisattva Mahasattva, saying that all three are noble ones, the three born from gods also have children, should those examples be distinguished?) In addition, obtaining meditation (and) being born as a god (that is, long-lived gods, mainly the form realm). Or being born as a human being (and then) approaching (and) serving the king (there are two kinds, for those people), there are also dull faculties, all (the answer to where to transmigrate is from generating bodhicitta until one does not attain Buddhahood) always being born in the Buddha's (residing) pure land (and 24-125 not separated from the Buddha). This first one is (the classification of Bodhisattvas) briefly shown. The detailed classification (is) the rest (that is, the fourth). (For the benefit of the future, staying in the body of the previous life, there are also some included.)

(Kha) The meditation (four dhyanas) of the unskilled (such as the dull-witted) is: having abandoned what has been attained, to be born in the desire realm (that is, if skillfulness is not attained, it is as if meditation has not been abandoned). (Ga) Having attained form meditation (eight dhyanas), the limbs of enlightenment (thirty-seven factors of enlightenment), the four immeasurables (and then, by the power of the form meditation of cause and equanimity), one is not born in the three realms, but goes to the supreme buddha-field (where the Buddhas reside). This is (mostly a bodhisattva of the tenth bhumi?), to attain enlightenment in this fortunate eon (lineage, fortunate eon is a symbol, that is, in one's own time). (Nga) Having attained meditation, etc. (formless limbs of enlightenment), but through skillful means, (not because of attachment to existence, but for the sake of maturing sentient beings,) one is born as a noble person (such as a Brahmin woman, the householder Shisha, etc.), and matures beings. (Although one has attained form meditation,) (Ca) in the pure land of the desire gods (born in the six realms, maturing sentient beings), one pleases the Buddhas. (Cha) Having attained form meditation, one is born in the Brahma realm (as shown, such as Brahma Tsegphu, above the entire Brahma host?, turning the wheel of Dharma in all buddha-fields, etc.). (Ja) Having practiced meditation, etc. (samadhi), one is born in Tushita (as shown, such as Maitreya Bodhisattva). He also shows one lifetime remaining (that is, showing himself as a Chakravartin king, and then being reborn as a human and becoming a Buddha). (Nya) Those who have attained (the six superknowledges) are not born in the three realms, but with a mind-made body, travel to buddha-fields to worship the Buddhas (mainly for the sole purpose of worshiping the Buddhas). (Ta) In buddha-fields where the sound of the Hinayana (vehicle) is not heard, one strives with the six superknowledges. (Tha) (Those who have attained the six superknowledges) travel from long-life buddha-fields to other buddha-fields (until they attain enlightenment). (Da) (Some who have attained the six superknowledges) proclaim the virtues of the Three Jewels (goodness?) in dark worlds (without proclaiming the name of the Buddha, which is actually the name of the Buddha). These three (from the first bhumi until enlightenment) are always in a certain buddha-field (those who manifest various emanations at one time, are not realized). (Na) (Those who have attained meditation, etc.) although they are not born in the three realms, they work for the benefit of sentient beings in the three realms, (Pa) (first) starting from generating bodhicitta, one enters (that birth) without fault (that is, without fault.
