And, regarding the words of the Guru, one must repeatedly contemplate that they must be followed and put into practice. So, the meaning of the supplication here is: The five stains of perversion, namely: the stain of attachment to this life; the stain of not believing in the law of karma; the stain of perceiving samsara as happiness; the stain of cherishing oneself; the stain of perceiving things and signs as real. There are also five realizations that are not perverted, namely: the realization that the next life is more important than this life; the realization of believing in karma; the realization that samsara is suffering; the realization that cherishing others is more important than cherishing oneself; the realization that ultimate emptiness and conventional illusion are the same. The obstacles to practicing Dharma are: harm from external humans and non-humans; internal diseases caused by imbalances of the four elements; internal thoughts and afflictions that contradict the Dharma. Please eliminate these three obstacles. One round of visualization. The Actual Lamrim: Training the Minds of the Three Types of Individuals Second, the actual Lamrim: training the minds of the three types of individuals, which is divided into: training in the stages common to the individual of small capacity; training in the stages common to the individual of intermediate capacity; and training in the uncommon stages of the individual of great capacity, these three. Training in the Stages Common to the Individual of Small Capacity First, In general, there are many different ways of guiding in each tradition. In this instruction lineage of the Venerable Atisha, according to one's own tradition, some begin the guidance by contemplating the suffering of samsara; some begin from karma and its effects; some begin from the difficulty of finding leisure and opportunity; most begin from death and impermanence, etc. Although there are various methods, they all lead to the same essential point. There is no difference in meaning. However, in order to be consistent with the generally accepted and well-known approach, if one starts with the difficulty of finding leisure and opportunity, that itself is the basis for meditating on impermanence, so there is no difference in meaning from starting with meditating on impermanence. It just seems more convenient to explain it this way for the time being. Here, there are four: contemplating the difficulty of finding leisure and opportunity; contemplating death and impermanence; contemplating the suffering of the lower realms; and contemplating karma and its effects. Contemplating the Difficulty of Finding Leisure and Opportunity First
