If transformed, since the view of idealism appears in all the treatises of the Yogacara school, why not transform it into treatises of the Cittamātra school as well? Furthermore, there is no scriptural authority stating that the intermediate turning of the wheel is definitive and the final turning is provisional. In the commentaries, it is said that the intermediate turning is provisional and the final turning is definitive, thus distinguishing between the provisional and the definitive. And since the provisional is explained as having a hidden meaning, it would be excessive to have to explain this sutra as also having a hidden meaning. Even though one's own side has no scriptural authority to distinguish between the provisional, the definitive, and the hidden meaning, to say that the scriptures of other systems have a hidden meaning is merely an act of power. Although Nāgārjuna proclaimed self-emptiness in the Collection of Reasoning, he proclaimed other-emptiness in the Collection of Praises, thus following both sides. Others, such as Śāntarakṣita and Candrakīrti, although generally great paṇḍitas, were not included among the Six Ornaments and did not receive a prophecy from the Buddha himself that they would uphold the Dharma. The brothers Asaṅga are not objects to be compared with Dignāga and Dharmakīrti. In particular, the Buddha himself prophesied that Asaṅga would distinguish between the provisional and definitive scriptures. Vasubandhu had ninety-nine myriads of treatises in mind, and Candrakīrti and Jñānagarbha and others also acknowledged that Vasubandhu, Dignāga, and Dharmapāla were more learned and had more extensive hearing than themselves, and that they were great chariots. Therefore, to refute the brothers Asaṅga based on the words of Candrakīrti and others is biased. Furthermore, from the perspective of philosophical tenets, there seems to be a great deal of refutation and affirmation regarding these two sides, but because the text would become lengthy and it seems inconvenient to read for the time being, I have not written it. In this regard, the meaning of self-emptiness is that all phenomena, both conventional and ultimate, are empty of their own essence and are not truly existent, therefore all phenomena are self-empty, which is what they assert. The meaning of other-emptiness is that although all conventional phenomena are self-empty because they are without truth and empty of their own essence, the realm of the ultimate is truly established, therefore it is not empty of its own essence. However, it is indeed emptiness, because it is empty of all elaborations such as the apprehended and the apprehender.

Therefore, the ultimate is (gzhan stong, Sanskrit Devanagari: paratantra, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: paratantra, literal Chinese meaning: other-empty). This is their view, so although they agree that the conventional is self-empty, the difference lies in whether or not they consider the ultimate to be self-empty. The way of establishing the conventional and the ultimate is also different. The self-empty ones consider that the phenomena included by samsara and nirvana that appear in this way are conventional, and their lack of self-nature is the ultimate truth. The ultimate is merely established as being free from all elaboration. The other-empty ones consider that all phenomena included by the duality of things and non-things, grasper and grasped, etc., are conventional, and the ultimate realm, the wisdom of emptiness of two, self-awareness, is the ultimate. Therefore, the ultimate is not merely established as being free from elaboration, but is established as awareness that is devoid of the elaboration of the two, grasper and grasped. Merely being free from elaboration, like space, is considered to be inert emptiness and annihilation emptiness. Therefore, the ultimate of the self-empty ones is established as non-affirming negation and non-things. The ultimate of the other-empty ones is real, not newly created by causes and conditions, and everything before and after is unchanging, it is constant and eternal, therefore it will not fall into the extreme of annihilation. Because it is free from all elaboration, it will not fall into the extreme of permanence, it transcends the realm of what can be expressed by words, and it cannot be determined by conceptual thought as "it is like this", therefore it transcends the realm of conceptual thought, and it is considered to be the object of experience of the wisdom of individual self-awareness. Therefore, for all three natures, the dependent is the consciousness with illusory appearances, the imputed is the illusion that appears on it, and the thoroughly established is that consciousness is empty of the illusion of the two, grasper and grasped, but not empty of the nature of self-awareness. Therefore, the imputed is merely established by symbols and names, and does not exist at all, the dependent exists conventionally but does not exist ultimately, and the thoroughly established exists ultimately. The imputed is the nature of no-nature, the dependent is the nature of no-birth, and the thoroughly established is without the nature of grasper and grasped, therefore it is the ultimate nature of no-nature. Therefore, according to the view of self-emptiness, since the dharma and its self-nature do not exist, all dharmas are considered to be emptiness, but it is not considered that the conventional dharma is empty in itself.
