Rejecting other tenets, Considering Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas as objects of refuge, etc., the self-empty view mixes with Hīnayāna tenets. This is a refutation of those who consider self-emptiness to be the ultimate Madhyamaka. Some proponents of self-emptiness examine tenets and establish other-emptiness through their reasoning. If the freedom from elaboration of the self-empty system is a negation of existence, then no one can experience it. There is no experience of non-entities anywhere. Consciousness takes universals as its object; if one considers merely the aspect of exclusion as realization, that is a mistake. Such cognition is mistaken, therefore it does not understand the meaning. If such freedom from elaboration were true, it would be truly established; otherwise, it would be equal to all conventionalities and the absence of truth. For the supreme wisdom of the Buddhas, etc., if that freedom from elaboration appears, then it exists for them, and therefore it would become true. If it does not appear, then both conventional and ultimate truths become equal in the view of the noble ones. 18-112 Since unerring wisdom sees non-existence, freedom from elaboration would become erroneous, and thus equal to error. Then one cannot distinguish between conventional and ultimate truths. If they are always the same, then in the two, the ultimate is superior to the conventional. In the true sense, it is the same as non-existence; the conventional functions in the realm of delusion, and the ultimate is not even that. Now, your conventional is established by valid cognition, depending on the assertion that the ultimate is definitely non-existent. Such a shameless view deserves condemnation. In the realm unexamined by the world, all things exist. Saying that they do not exist upon examination, this needs to be examined. That they do not exist in the ultimate but exist in the conventional, this is the point of examination. The world has no distinction between conventional and ultimate. According to your system, conventional and ultimate exist; one must assert that these two do not exist in either of the two truths. Appearance is conventional, and emptiness is ultimate, but conventional appearance does not cease. In certainty, since grasping at truth is abandoned, both extremes are abandoned. If so, then you do not accept ultimate appearance. Since appearance does not exist in equipoise, it turns into an extreme of non-existence, therefore it is not Madhyamaka. In all instances of the two truths, conventional and ultimate, they say that existence and non-existence are the same. It is impossible for it to exist in the ultimate; in the conventional, saying that everything exists is contradictory. Since the ultimate exists in the conventional, the conventional also exists there, since everything is the same.

If ultimate and conventional exist as one, then it would follow that the ultimate becomes conventional, just as beings existing in humans are humans. Furthermore, the ultimate must be established as ultimate. Otherwise, because of being established, it would become established as conventional. Or, the basis of the ultimate would not be established. Therefore, the ultimate is established as the supreme meaning. If the ultimate exists because it appears in a mistaken perception, then the wisdom that realizes the ultimate is mistaken, and it would follow that emptiness is realized through mistake. According to the later Madhyamikas' view, because conventional exists, wisdom becomes mistaken. If equipoise is mistaken, what need to mention subsequent attainment? If conventional appears to that wisdom, then conventional would become true. Even if it appears, they say there is no true appearance, but an appearance of no conventional. Conventional is not an appearance, but conventional exists. Because it appears as non-existent to wisdom, it is mistaken. If it appears as existent to that, then that would become true, because the reason is an undistorted object. To the self-emptiness proponents who want the negation of what is to be negated to be established, one should say this: If the nature of phenomena, the absence of inherent existence, is true, how is it different from those who speak of other-emptiness? If it is not true, then with two negative words, because it is understood as it is, it would only become truly existent. Non-existent in the ultimate, non-existent in the face of analysis, etc., are the same. This is how some self-emptiness proponents analyze tenets, and with that reasoning, they establish other-emptiness. Now, showing a little closer to the validity of one's own system: Because the nature of phenomena is unchanging, the Dharmakaya will necessarily exist for sentient beings. If it is not the Dharmakaya at first, it will become that later. That is only something that changes its essence. Conditioned things never remain, therefore they do not exist. This suchness is definitely unconditioned. It is a knowing that transcends objects and non-objects. Because it is the face of the unconfused wisdom that has no obstacle, it is the ultimate realm that is truly established, even though it is confused and unconfused. Conventional knowledge is a deceiving phenomenon. It is not something to be experienced as matter or non-matter. Therefore, that realm is the ultimate wisdom. That suchness of the realm is virtue, therefore it is the supreme virtue. If conventional virtue is virtue itself, why is ultimate virtue not virtue? That
