Because one also understands the circumstances, it is the most suitable ultimate place for offering pure offerings. Confession means declaring without concealing in the Sangha that one has committed such and such misdeeds. Repentance means fully accepting the fault with remorse for the wrongdoing and stating that it is a fault. Not concealing, not hiding, if these are taken as synonyms, because the mind of regret has power, that meaning is repeatedly stated. Alternatively, confession is the essence or brief instruction, and the latter two are in the manner of detailed explanations of distinctions, that is, the former do not conceal, and the latter do not hide. It is also explained in this way, and no contradiction is seen. Those are categorized as repentance for past actions, like drinking poison. To cut off and restrain in the future means vowing not to commit such misdeeds even if one's life is at stake. Cutting off is cutting off the previous continuity, and restraining is restraining the doors of the senses in that direction. The main method for reversing transgressions is this alone. Without this, even if there is regret and reproach, it is only an appearance, and therefore it will not become the power of reproach. Hail! Explaining the collection of dedication. Third, the collection of dedication has three types: the dedication of proximity, the dedication of vastness, and the dedication of the unsurpassed. First, regarding the first, giving and so on, refers to dedicating all the roots of virtue arising from giving, all the merits of discipline that turn away from the misdeeds of body and speech, as well as celibacy, which is patience, and joy in virtue, and the merits arising from tranquility and insight. Second, my sentient beings and so on, refers to all the practices of Bodhisattvas, which are also methods for maturing sentient beings, and therefore the uncommon practices of the Great Vehicle, such as the six perfections and the four means of gathering disciples. The root of virtue of the mind of enlightenment is to generate the aspiration and practice of Bodhicitta, which are the basis of those practices, and to cultivate the lineage, meditating on the Bodhicitta taken by love and compassion, equality and exchange of self and others.

Wisdom is the wisdom of emptiness and compassion, which is free from all elaborations, and is the essence of the Tathagata, as well as the yoga that focuses on it. Among these two, the unsurpassed wisdom that must be dedicated here is the latter. And the Dharmadhatu, which is the object of that wisdom, should also be dedicated in a general way. This is because all virtuous deeds must be visualized as being of one taste in the Dharmadhatu, and one must pray to attain the Dharmakaya, which is the ultimate reality. If the Dharmadhatu is made the object of dedication, will it be regarded as a sign? Dedication must be established based on convention, and there is no difference from making merit the object of dedication, so it will not become a sign. Making the Dharmadhatu the object of dedication is also in the realm of conventional mind. In the ultimate sense, even dedication itself is not established, so there is no discussion of whether the Dharmadhatu is the object of dedication or not. Even if the Dharmadhatu is dedicated, it will not be dedicated with attachment to truth, so it will not become a dedication with the poison of objectification. If thinking of the object of dedication leads to attachment to truth, then it is the same as virtuous actions, and dedication will be impossible without poison. If one thinks that the Dharmadhatu is self-nature, and also good, and also true, so it is with attachment, then even though the essence is good and truly exists, there is no fault because one does not cling only to that. For example, conditioned virtues can function in the conventional sense, but one does not cling to "being able to function in the conventional sense." The dedication that sums up the two objects of dedication and virtuous roots into one is "gathered into one, merged, and combined." These three words can be used as synonyms, or they can be understood as explaining "gathering into one is gathering, merging is mixing, and combining is inseparable." One explanation says that dedicating the perfections of this life, gods and humans, and the lower vehicles separately is spoken of as a skillful means. Therefore, all virtuous roots should be combined into one with intention, and one should pray to obtain the most excellent fruit from them. Where should the most excellent fruit be dedicated? Dedicated to the names of unsurpassed and incomparable...
