His fame spread far and wide. The accomplished Kangkala was a wealthy householder in the eastern region of Gaura, who lived a life of pleasure and enjoyment. 17-208 Suddenly, his wife passed away. As the corpse was taken to the charnel ground, he sat there grieving. Then, a yogi with perfect realization came and asked, "What are you doing?" He told his story and lamented his sorrow. The yogi said, "In that case, you too will die." He replied, "Then, please grant me a way to liberation." The yogi gave him empowerment and teachings. After that, the householder stayed in that charnel ground. To purify the defilements of his mind, he surrounded himself with bones and meditated. After six years, he attained accomplishment. He also extensively benefited beings. Master Jayanandipa was a learned Brahmin, pure in conduct. He entered the Buddhist teachings and became a lay follower. He received teachings from a tantric master and meditated. He served as the object of offering for the king of the region of Bagala, and performed torma offerings every day with countless implements. Some ministers slandered the master to the king, saying, "This man recklessly squanders the king's wealth." The king then imprisoned the master. There, all kinds of different birds gathered. Hundreds of thousands of birds came to the palace, making various sounds, performing various gestures, and even landing on people's heads. Then, someone who understood bird language investigated and said, "Our parents have been imprisoned, you will be destroyed in seven days." He repeated this to the king. The king also came to the prison door and inquired of the master. The master said, "I have not taken and given away any inappropriate items from the king's possessions." The king asked, "Then, where did you get so many things?" The master simply waved his hand in the sky, and countless grains, food, silk, and other items piled up in front of him. Then, the king knew that this master had attained 17-209 accomplishment, so he prostrated at the master's feet, invited him to the palace, and made offerings. Before that, the master had been a yogi who concealed his qualities. From then on, he became known as an accomplished one. The Dharma Wheel, Baling Acarya of Vikramashila, the Torma Master.
