Having made the assumption of meditating on the six sequential stages, in the first five meditations, during the breaks between sessions, the five sequential signs are applied in order. If one meditates like severing misconceptions, then from those six, one can choose one or two at will to meditate on. At that time, each one will gradually manifest the five signs. Therefore, in the branch of the object of focus, the application of the path during session breaks, there is no need to be attached to each of the five signs individually. It is sufficient to simply relax naturally, like being attached to illusion. However, if one thinks that even when meditating on the six in order, the five signs will not be fully manifested in each stage, then although the five visible signs will appear, here the wisdom with signs is considered as the standard for the degree of stability, and the five signs are used as an analogy. Therefore, each of the five stages is combined with one of the five signs, and combining the sixth with the result is not contradictory. These six methods of meditation are in accordance with the instructions of the six stages of Āryadeva's Compendium of Conduct, namely: distinguishing form and body, distinguishing breath and speech, distinguishing letters and mind. This is the self-blessing of the luminous body, and not only is it the meaning of luminosity and union, but the name is also the same. The two methods of removing obstacles and enhancing practice are the same regardless of which of the six meditations one relies on. When the mind is slightly stable, but stability has not yet been attained, obstacles of dullness and agitation will arise frequently. Therefore, the methods for removing dullness and agitation are the same as the common methods. The key point is that if there is dullness, one should look at the nature of dullness itself and rest in a clear state without clinging. Recognize dullness as resting in non-conceptual meditation and enhance the practice. If agitation arises, one should look at the nature of each agitation and rest without artificiality. In this way, awareness will become clear, appearances will become vivid, and one must protect this state of non-clinging and non-recognition, which is to recognize agitation as simultaneous arising, clear samadhi. One way to remove obstacles and enhance practice is that if the breath rushes upwards and the mind cannot rest, then forcefully inhale downwards, focusing the mind on the reddish state of the anus. If there is little bliss, focus the mind on the vaṃ (藏文:བཾ,梵文天城体:वं,梵文罗马拟音:vaṃ,汉语字面意思:വം) at the navel. Open and smile with the lower gate. If the breath accumulates downwards causing discomfort, then focus the attention on the crown of the head, and from the center of the navel, imagine the breath rising like the smoke of an incense stick.

Thus it appears. It comes out from the Brahma aperture. Imagine it's like an umbrella held above. The breath is forcefully exhaled alternately from the nostrils. If the upper body feels hot, it means the breath is reversing upwards. All breaths appear like smoke billowing violently downwards from the crown of the head. It passes through the central channel of the body. It comes out from the anus, which is like the spout of a copper horn. It coils far down below. Focus on it being round like the shape of an umbrella. The amount of urination and defecation should be appropriate. Furthermore, if the fire element is too strong, the voice becomes hoarse. If the upper body feels heavy, or there is blood heat or bile heat, then visualize flames burning from the (བཾ་, vam, vam, seed syllable) at the navel. The (ཧཾ་, ham, ham, seed syllable) at the crown of the head melts. Eliminate it by imagining the entire body is filled (with nectar). Or go to a place where you can see clear, unpolluted flowing water. Rays of light like arrow shafts emanate from the nostrils. Inhale cool, pure white water. It enters from the nostrils. Eliminate (discomfort) thoroughly by imagining all the internal organs become cool. Also, if the water element is too strong, the body trembles, and the legs become weak, then inside the red Dharma source at the crossroads, visualize a blue vajra burning with flames. Or visualize the guru at the crown of the head. Press the door of the Awadhuti channel at your crown with the guru's secret. Imagine flames burning from the guru's body, gradually filling the body up to the soles of the feet. If the earth element is too strong, the body feels heavy and dull, then restrain the lower breath. Visualize the mixed fire and breath rising upwards from the secret place. It strikes the variegated vajra above the crown of the head, and visualize it rotating to the left. Or visualize a variegated vajra above the nostrils. Focus on the breath striking it and rotating violently, thereby eliminating (discomfort). If the wind element is too strong, consciousness becomes scattered, or there is displeasure, then lie down with the left lung underneath. Visualize flames burning from the (རཾ་, ram, ram, seed syllable) at the crossroads. From the (ཧཾ་, ham, ham, seed syllable) at the crown of the head, nectar like melted butter or sesame oil descends. Eliminate (discomfort) by imagining the body is filled (with nectar). If the downward-clearing flow is blocked or leaks untimely, then visualize the guru burning with flames below the navel. Imagine the guru's feet pressing down on the earth gate below the anus. Release the upper breath. Furthermore, insert a plug at the anus, and imagine the diseases leaving from that gate. Exhale forcefully or make a "ha" sound. Furthermore, numbness arises from the heart, sounds from the lungs, itching from the liver, hiccups from the kidneys, and belching from the spleen. Therefore, for each disease, treat the corresponding organ.
